This DE event accompanies and supports the four day Kahuna at Laguna PCA Club Racing event.  Certified and/or Cleared-to-Solo drivers (no Students) wishing to take advantage of this rare opportunity for a four day, 103 dB weekend will be asked to assist the GGR track team in administering the Club Race.

Volunteers are needed to assist with:

  • Race Registration
  • Grid
  • Scoring and Timing
  • Scales
  • Hospitality
  • Swag

The basic format for the weekend is structured around five run groups (four race groups plus one DE group, or three race groups and two DE groups), as follows:

Thursday, July 18:  Test & Tune (run under PCA DE rules)
Fri./Sat., July 19-20:  Sprint Races and Advanced DE
Sunday, July 21:  Enduros and Advanced DE

Emphasis on Club Race:
Interested drivers - please understand that our focus is on the four day Club Race, which is a very significant opportunity for GGR's track program.  This Club Race event is considered one of five major Club Race events (including Sebring, Watkins Glen, Road America, and Daytona), and the first major event on the west coast.  It will draw PCA club racers from across the country.  Your participation in it is to ensure its success so we can provide it on an annual basis.

We are planning on utilizing the paved lake bed area (outside Turn 5) as staging, check-in, and "early" DE tech inspection on Wednesday afternoon.

We are also planning an at-track dinner (in the Pavilion) on the night of Friday, July 19, and an "in Monterey" dinner on Saturday, July 20.

More info to follow as details are finalized with the track.

PCA - HPDE Insurance Program:
In June 2009, Porsche Club of America and Lockton Affinity announced the PCA - HPDE Insurance Program. This innovative program provides single-event physical damage coverage to PCA members who attend High-Performance Driver's Education events. Over the past ten years many auto insurers have changed their policies to exclude coverage for claims "occurring on a surface used for racing", "at a high-performance driving event", or "use of an auto at a racetrack". Your existing auto insurance policy may not cover damage to your car at the track.

Information on the PCA HPDE Insurance Program can be found here:

(This information is provided as a convenience to our members and should not be construed as an endorsement.)

Coverage from other companies may be available as well.
