Join GGR for its fifth Driver Education event of 2018 at Thunderhill Raceway!  First timers and beginners will receive instruction from GGR's PCA National qualified instructors.  Instruction is also available for intermediate and advanced drivers.  PCA-GGR's Driver Education events are focused on safety, fun and maximum track time.

This event also includes GGR's fourth Club Race of the 2018 season.  (Registration for the Club Race can be found at: http://register.pca.org.)

Please review the following information carefully as well as the "Important Stuff" section on the next page.

Ground School:  Ground School is required for those new to track driving and/or GGR DE events, and is included with the Student registration fee.  Ground school will cover rules, safety, preparation, at-track instruction format, introduction of the scheduled track configuration, event protocol and schedule, what to do to succeed at the event, and what not to do.  The next ground school will be Saturday, August 25, 10:00 a.m. to noon, at the BR Racing Showroom, 2875 South Winchester Blvd., Units A and B, in Campbell.

At Track Orientation:  The At-Track Orientation takes place Friday evening preceding the event.  It is complementary to the Ground School.  Mandatory for beginners, but all are welcome.  This event will include a track walk.  It is also good for experienced drivers making their first visit to this course.

Fees:
Two Days (Sat/Sun) - $425 (Students $475)
One Day (Saturday) - $275 (Students $325)

Instructors:
Two Days (Sat/Sun) - $150
One Day (Saturday) - $100
Non-Driving Instructors - $0

Saturday Night Dinner (additional fee):

Student Sell Outs:
Priority is given to PCA members and Porsche owners.  All others will be determined by registration and payment date.  Registration is not complete until payment is received and all other required information and forms are provided.

Procrastination Fee:
Registration closes Saturday night September 1, 2018 at 11:59 p.m.  Registrations submitted after August 25, 2018 will be subject to a $100 Procrastination Fee.

Diablo Region DE on Friday September 7:
Our good friends at the Diablo Region will be hosting a DE on Friday September 7.  Make it a three day weekend!  Register here.

PCA - HPDE Insurance Program:
In June 2009, Porsche Club of America and Lockton Affinity announced the PCA - HPDE Insurance Program.  This innovative program provides single-event physical damage coverage to PCA members who attend High-Performance Driver's Education events.  Over the past ten years many auto insurers have changed their policies to exclude coverage for claims "occurring on a surface used for racing," "at a high-performance driving event," or "use of an auto at a racetrack."  Your existing auto insurance policy may not cover damage to your car at the track.

Information on the PCA HPDE Insurance Program can be found here:
http://pcahpdeins.locktonaffinity.com/Default.aspx
(This information is provided as a convenience to our members and should not be construed as an endorsement.)

Coverage from other companies may be available as well.

Event requirements

IMPORTANT STUFF

1.  Know the Rules:  Rules and requirements about you and your Porsche can be found on the GGR website. They include mandatory information about safety equipment for you and how your car is to be prepared for driving it on the track.  Please review them here  before registering.

2.  Tech Form:  You must present a completed tech form and valid driver's license during Tech/Check In at the track.  Download, review, complete, and sign the tech form, which can be found here.  You are allowed to self tech, if you feel your inspection skills are commensurate to the task.  If you are more comfortable having your car inspected by a qualified Porsche service facility, have them complete the tech form, and you, as the driver, must sign it as well.

3.  Helmets:  All drivers and passengers must wear a minimum SA 2010 helmet.  (SA 2015 is recommended.)  DOT helmets are not acceptable.  Thunderhill Raceway has helmets for rent.  It is recommended that if you need to rent a helmet, to reserve one earlier than your earliest convenience.

4.  Car Numbers:  Car numbers conforming to GGR DE/Time Trial rules are required to be on your car when you present it at Tech Inspection.

5.  Guest Driver / Student Waiver Policy:  GGR considers you a Student unless you've completed two clean events with us.  If you are an experienced driver (including multiple track days at this course) but this is your first event with GGR, you must adhere to GGR's Guest Driver / Student Waiver Policy.  It is available here.  You are responsible for facilitation of the required endorsements.  Please contact the CDI with any questions about the Guest Driver / Student Waiver policy.

6.  Run Groups:  We will use three run groups at this event - Red (advanced, instructors), Blue (intermediate), and Yellow (students and beginners).  Run group assignments are at the discretion of GGR.

7.  Receipt of payment is critical!  Where priority for instruction, acceptance into an event, discounts, availability of volunteer jobs etc. is decided by date, it is the date of payment receipt that is used. Wait-listed students' priority will be decided by PCA affiliation and date of registration.

8.  Cancellations:  Registration fees for cancellations made before August 25, 2018 may be refunded upon request.  Fees for cancellations after August 25, 2018 shall be applied as a credit for a future event.  Credit card payment refunds will be subject to a 5% cancellation fee.  NOTE: Any refund can be applied as a credit for a future event to avoid the 5% fee.
