Join GGR at the challenging and fun Buttonwillow Raceway!  This year we will be running Configuration #1A CCW (counter-clockwise, and including Turn 2A.)  First timers and beginners will receive instruction from GGR's PCA National qualified instructors.  Instruction is also available for intermediate and advanced drivers.  PCA-GGR's Driver Education events are focused on safety, fun and maximum track time.

This event also includes GGR's second Club Race of the 2018 season.  (Registration for the Club Race can be found at: http://register.pca.org.)

Ground School:  Required for those new to track driving and/or GGR DE events, and is included with the Student registration fee.  Ground school will cover safety, preparation, at-track instruction format, introduction of the scheduled track configuration, as well as event protocol and schedule.  The next ground school date / time / location is in the works...

At Track Orientation:  Friday evening preceding the event.  Complementary to Ground School.  Mandatory for beginners.  All are welcome.  Also good for experienced drivers making their first visit to this course.

Fees:

DE:
Two Days (Sat/Sun) - $445.00 (Students $495.00)
One Day (Saturday) - $295.00 (Students $345.00)

Instructors:
Two Days (Sat/Sun) - $160.00

Student Sell Outs:
Priority is given to PCA members and Porsche owners.  All others will be determined by registration and payment date.  Registration is not complete until payment is received.

Central Coast Region DE on Friday May 17:
Our good friends at the Central Coast Region will be hosting their DE on Friday May 17 (same track configuration).  Register for the CCR event here, and make it a three day weekend!

PCA - HPDE Insurance Program:
In June 2009, Porsche Club of America and Lockton Affinity announced the PCA - HPDE Insurance Program. This innovative program provides single-event physical damage coverage to PCA members who attend High-Performance Driver's Education events. Over the past ten years many auto insurers have changed their policies to exclude coverage for claims "occurring on a surface used for racing", "at a high-performance driving event", or "use of an auto at a racetrack". Your existing auto insurance policy may not cover damage to your car at the track.

Information on the PCA HPDE Insurance Program can be found here:

(This information is provided as a convenience to our members and should not be construed as an endorsement.)

Coverage from other companies may be available as well.

Event requirements

Know the Rules:  Rules and requirements about you and your Porsche can be found on the GGR website.  They have been updated for 2019.  Please review them here  before registering.

Tech Form:  The Tech Form is updated for 2019 and is available here.  You must present a completed tech form and valid drivers license during Tech/Check In at the track.

New Safety Equipment Required for 2019 PCA DE:

  • SFI or FIA approved Head and Neck Restraints are now required for all Drivers and Passengers in harness-equipped vehicles.
  • The same type of restraint system is required for both driver and passenger.
  • Harnesses are required to be SFI or FIA approved for competition and mounted in the manufacturer-approved configuration.  Any harness approved for PCA Club Racing is acceptable when installed according to the manufacturer’s instructions.  Evidence of this approval will be provided by the driver, if necessary.
  • If factory stock/DOT approved 3 point restraint systems (stock seat belts) are used, additional head and neck restraints are not required.
  • GGR will not rent or provide head and neck restraint systems.  Participants must provide their own systems if required.

Guest Driver / Student Waiver Policy:  GGR considers you a student unless you've completed two clean events with us.  If you are an experienced driver but this is your first event with GGR, please visit GGR's Guest Driver / Student Waiver Policy here. You are responsible for facilitation of the required endorsement.  Please contact the Chief Driving Instructor with any questions about the policy.
