Open Lapping and Solo1 Weekend August 19-20

Castrol Raceway Park

About this event

The Track Junkies group is Alberta’s premium recreational lapping day experience, with a safe and welcoming environment for people with high-value street and track cars to come out and play.  Our events offer both competitive and noncompetitive high-speed lapping with coordinated (point-by) passing.

THIS IS A TWO DAY EVENT. We offer options to attend either day, or both days. As event fills, preference will be given to two-day registrants.

LAPPERS: As with all Track Junkies events, lappers will have three run groups in a rotating format. These run groups allow drivers with similar skill levels, and cars with similar expected speeds, to run together with minimal congestion. Rotating sessions will be 20 minutes in length. Participants should expect approx. 1.5 hours of scheduled track time per day at this event. INSTRUCTION is available for novice drivers on both days.

Solo1: We are offering limited passing Solo1 (Time Attack) mirroring the classing structure of the CASC Ontario Time Attack series. We will utilize very small run groups of 10 or less cars to minimize the need to pass during timed competition. Participants will receive approx. 50 minutes per day of scheduled track time including two 10-minute practice sessions followed by three 3-lap hot sessions (plus out lap to start/finish and cool-down). Class prizes will be awarded based on best class times ... 20% of Solo1 registration fees will go toward prize pool (capped at $3,000). AMB timing transponders will be available on a shared rental basis. Additional practice time available in the Lapping run groups.

SCHEDULE: This is a DAYTIME event that will run into the early evening ... same schedule both days.  Schedule can be downloaded here: www.trackjunkies.ca/wp-content/uploads/Solo1-Weekend-Schedule-2016.pdf.

RATES for this event:

  • Fee per driver:  $295 for LAPPING either day; $195 for Solo1 either day
  • Instruction for novice drivers:  add $100 per day
  • AMB shared transponder rental: add $15 per day (transponder required for Solo1)
  • 5% GST is included in the above prices

Vehicles must be inspected separately for each event --- photocopies of previous inspections are not acceptable. The term "self-tech" means you may perform the inspection yourself if you have the required knowledge and tools. If you do not have the technical knowledge or tools required, or are not willing to take the time to properly inspect each item, please have the vehicle inspected by a licensed Automotive Service Technician with knowledge of the rigors expected in road course driving.

- Solo1 Competitors must have recent (within last 2 years) competition experience or a valid competition license (specifics are outlined in more detail on the registration form). Our insurer requires that participants have prior experience before running against the clock. If the details of this prior expereince are not included in your MotorSportReg profile under "Other Previous Experience", your registration will immediately be put on hold pending verification of your prior experience.
