If you signed up for the ONTO Fall Rally (October 23rd), or if you just want to learn about course-following rallies, then we invite you to a short Rally School. Content covers SCCA GTA (Games, Tours, Adventures) rallies and is geared for novices, though it will also include concepts of interest to the more advanced rallyist. Key course following concepts like “The Main Road” and “Onto” will be explored to help you prepare for our upcoming ONTO Fall Rally on October 23rd. ONTO Fall will have many course following problems, many based on the Main Road concept. We will cover Main Road rules in detail in the class. John Poulos, event Chairman, will be your instructor, assisted by Liz Witt, Rallymaster for the ONTO Fall GTA and Course Rallies. When you register, we will send information and directions for a short course in Richardson where you can practice some of the concepts introduced in the classroom.
Rally School Day is Sunday October 10th. The “classroom” instruction will be conducted via Zoom session. An invite for the Zoom session will be sent out ahead of the School. Class begins at 10:00 am and should run for about an hour and a half, including time for Q&A.
Following the instruction session, you’re free to run a short test course over paved roads in Richardson, Texas, starting and finishing in the parking lot of St Barnabas Presbyterian Church, 1220 W Belt Line Rd, Richardson, TX 75080. You may complete this test run any day or time at your convenience, though we recommend doing so the same day of the School, after attending the Zoom orientation session, or at least several days in advance of the Rally. Any street-legal, four-wheel vehicle may enter. At least two people (a driver and a navigator) are required in each car. This is not a speed event.
Follow-up questions after the event should be directed to rally@texasscca.org . We will compile them and post and/or distribute answers to all entrants. For those who aren't able to attend the Rally School on Saturday, or who later want to revisit some of the material, we plan to record the Zoom session and post it as well and will share information on how to access it after the Rally School so you can watch the recorded Zoom session at your convenience.
There is no charge for this event. You must preregister on MotorsportReg.com. Registration is per individual, not per team/car. To pre-register, page down and click on “Continue.” To keep track of who attended and any follow-ups, please register each individual attendee if possible.
Note: if you plan to register for the ONTO Fall GTA (or Course) Rally, we strongly urge you to do so early and in time to also attend this Rally School and/or view the recorded session.
This is not a SCCA sanctioned and insured event.
Event requirements
There must be at least 2 people old enough to read in every rally car, for the optional test route. The driver must have a valid driver's license and proof of insurance. The car must be in good mechanical condition.
