Audi Club RMC is exited to hold an off-road tour for 2019!

Do you like Colorado railroad history or want to learn a little more about it?

Our tour takes us over Boreas Pass. Boreas Pass runs between Como CO. and Breckenridge CO and reaches an altitude of 11,482 feet. The pass was initially created by the Denver South Park & Pacific (DSP&P) railroad company and was completed between 1881 and 1884 to serve the lucrative Leadville market. At the top of the pass there are a few buildings, an old railroad car and several informational signs explaining the history of Boreas Pass.

Our tour begins Saturday September 7th at 9am.

Being an old railroad route means that the pass itself is an easy drive in terms that it isn’t too steep and the scenery is so beautiful. The entire pass is gravel however, many areas of the pass do not have guard rails and it can be narrow in places. So, we will be going slow over the pass.

The road is relatively smooth but there are spots where there are rocks embedded in the road so you will want to pay close attention and go slow.

We leave from Littleton (Kipling and C-470) and head towards South Park taking 285. We will turn off 285 at Como, CO. and head up the pass. Lunch will be at BoLD Restaurant and Bar, in Breckenridge, at 1pm. They offer two hours of free parking in their underground garage.

Due the fact the pass can be narrow in places and as you approach Breckenridge the traffic tends to increase, we need to limit this tour to 8 vehicles. Having driven the pass recently, we will limit the tour to SUV’s and Crossovers. Normal passenger cars may be alright but we don’t recommend it. If you have an Audi Allroad, bring it!  Vehicles with low profile tires want to be extra, extra careful since there are numerous rocks on the road.

We look forward to see you and having a fun, safe enjoyable tour!
