Ever wondered what it’s like to drive a race course? Don't know what an apex is or why there are flaggers/corner workers at a track?
We’re offering a Sunday afternoon-only Taste of the Track opportunity for those who have little or no track experience to see what it’s really like to drive on a race track. The session will include:
- An introduction to the track and classroom instruction
- Controlled lap speeds with no helmets required
- No required tech inspections
This Sunday afternoon rain-or-shine event (1:00 p.m. to 4:30 p.m.) will be limited to 12 individuals.
Event requirements
On-track driving will be at moderate speeds up to 50 mph (that’s a speed guaranteed to seem fast through turns). Dependent upon Covid-19 restrictions at the time, there will be an instructor in each car. There will be three lead-follow track sessions during the afternoon. Each session will be led by an instructor followed by students with an observing instructor completing the group.
Classroom instruction will discuss the basics of track driving—how and where to brake, how to use all the track, when to turn-in and exit corners and related items. This group will use the same “line” around the track that advanced students use, just at a reduced speed. Drivers in this experience do not need helmets or technical inspections for their cars.
