About this event

California Inland Region

After Breakfast Tour to the Nethercutt Collection

Join us for a fun run to the Nethercutt Museum and Collection.  We will depart after the California Inland Region breakfast social at Margarita Mexican Grill in Valencia (breakfast starts at 9:30 a.m.). We have a 1:30 appointment for the Nethercutt Collection and are supposed to meet at the entrance at 1:00. If you want to meet us at the collection, don't be late. Entry to the museum and collection are FREE.

The Nethercutt Museum showcases more than 130 of the world’s greatest antique, vintage, classic and special interest automobiles including many top winners of the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance. Just steps outside the Museum are a perfectly restored steam locomotive and a Private Car, which was owned by the eldest daughter of Santa Anita Race Track founder, E.J. “Lucky” Baldwin.

The collection is in a separate building and includes four displays of "functional fine art." To view the collection you must have a reservation (which we do!). Everything in the collection works and the docent will turn on many of the exhibits and open their panels so you can see the inner workings of the devices. The collection building has three sections:

Lower Salon:

The Lower Salon is where guests assemble to start the guided tour. The salon is a microcosm of the entire collection. There are about 25 automobiles dating from the early 1900's up till the late 1940's. Also in display are nickelodeons, music boxes, David Winter Cottages, Dolls, Coins, and crystal figurines.

Grand Salon:

Marble columns, crystal chandeliers, painted ceilings all make up this beautiful Grand Salon Showroom of the 1910's, 20 and 30s. On display are approx. 30 of the finest automobiles of that era. Duesenbergs, Cadillacs, Isotta-Fraschini, Delahaye, Minvera, Renault, Maybach, many other European and American built automobiles.

Mezanine:

On the third floor is a large assortment of Radiator Hood Ornaments "Mascots", including Lalique Crystal Mascots and 18th & 19th Century French Furniture.

Music Room:

This floor displays a world-class collection of automated mechanical instruments including Reproducing Pianos, Nickelodeons, Cyclinder & Disc Music Boxes, Orchestrions and the Mighty Wurlitzer Theatre Pipe Organ. During the tour some of these instruments are demonstrated including a mini-concert on the Wurlitzer Pipe Organ. Also on display is our beautiful Louis XV Style Dining Room.

Fun Run Fee: FREE. We will depart Margaritas at about 11:30 for a 1-hour drive to the Nethercutt Collection via Placerita Canyon Road to Little Tujunga Canyon Road then the 210 to the museum. Here is the route...
