NER Team Challenge 2013

Devens Airfield

About this event

This is a Non Points event.  Due to the nature of the team event , we are offering late registration. Just sign up here by 6 AM Sunday morning and then arrive between 7 and 8 AM.   (Location: Devens)

If you sign up Saturday,  you've missed the "welcome to this event email but I have added it to this registration form so you can sign up and see the event timeline and what's expected as you sign up.

About teams:

If you have a full team  (4 people)  planned, great!  If you need to be added to a team or your team is not full, it will be taken care of on the morning of the event. Everyone should go to the SCCA truck in the AM when course is open for walking to either enter your team of 4 on the sign up sheets, or sign up to be added to a team.

Here's a link to the  web page we have that has the rule set for this event - http://www.ner.org/solo/team-challenge

All details regarding our solo program, including mail in registration, safety, and event day timelines are found here:

http://www.ner.org/solo/general-information

Anyone with a valid U.S. driver's license, as well as the Jr. Kart drivers may participate. (See Solo Rulebook Section 4.1 titled "Driver Credentials" for details.)

Car classing:  Refer to the solo rule book, and the 2013 stock car class guide both found here:

http://www.scca.com/solo/content.cfm?cid=44517

Still unsure? Please  post a new thread on the ner.org solo forum if you need more clarification on your car's classing.

Mod checklist - but please refer to the above 2013 SCCA solo rules for complete clarification on classing:

http://www.sff.net/people/dburkhead/prepcompare.htm

Car Eligibility: Trucks, Jeeps, pickups and SUV's are typically not allowed. If your vehicle is not listed in the above class documents, do not register.  Instead, call our tech expert Josh Parker at 603-674-0451 and ask if your vehicle is legal for our events.

  • Adult (SCCA members): $35
  • Junior Kart (SCCA members): $20
  • Non-Members (includes $15 weekend membership): $50

NER Class info:

  • No Shifter karts allowed at Devens events
  • Supplemental Road tire classes are offered (Stock classes on 140 TW street tires)
  • NER rule for 2013 - No duplicate #'s are allowed within the 3 road tire classes
  • Pro and Novice index classes are available

Region Number rules:  Rules are outlined in the  "Multiple Driver Cars" section of these rules: http://www.ner.org/solo/rules-and-regulations

Note:You must e-mail the registrar  car and class information before registering if you intend to run more than two drivers in 1 car in a single event.

  • 1  driver: Use any # between 1 and 99
  • 2 drivers: 2nd driver adds 100 to the 1st driver's number. (It's easiest to label the car if you use a range from 10-99 for driver 1 and 110-199 for driver) That way you only need to take the "1" off and move it back on the car as you switch drivers during the day.

How to label both sides of your car (minimum 8" numbers and 4" letters):

  • All classes including Road Tire: Label the car with # and class. Example: 65 CS for car # 65 in class C Stock, or  65 RTR for car # 65 in  RTR class (Road Tire RWD). No base class is needed on the car for Road Tire classes.

Sound Limit: The sound limit at Devens is 90db measured at 75 feet. Cars exceeding this limit will be required to make a change during the event to decrease sound before being allowed to run again.

Helmets: Snell M , SA 2000 or higher rated helmets are acceptable as are all helmets meeting the latest or two immediately preceding Snell Foundation standards. Loaner helmets are available for novices.

*************** For your reference  this is the WELCOME TO THE EVENT INFORMATION already been sent to early regisrants ***************

Event Day Problems: If you have an emergency and can't make it, or are going to be later than 8 AM, please call or text Barbara Seeger, Chief of registration at (cell)  978-996-2983 as early as possible.

This is the web page explaining what the event is about - Team challenge defined..

Pre-Event: Please review  the solo section of the ner.org web site for all general information about autocrossing with us. Also, please do your part and use these web site info as guides to check your car before your arrival.

http://www.ner.org/solo/rules-and-regulations and http://www.ner.org/solo/tech-inspection

Minor info:  http://www.ner.org/forums/index.php/topic,2356.0.html

Day of Event Time Line:

Gates open at 7AM - Drive up, bear left until you see the gate workers. You need to sign the waiver, get a wristband and have your license checked for expiration.

Park in the paddock, and prepare your car for tech inspection

Car Numbers and Classes: Place # and Class on both sides of the car using 8" high numbers and 4" letters. Tape should contrast with the car color.

  • Index classes: car # and index class (RTA RTR RTF) ,   Example: "22 RTR" for a road tire index 'rear wheel drive' C Stock car.
  • Open classes:  car # and class. Example: "65 CS" for 65 C stock.

Please check in at the table next to the timing truck. There will be a sign up sheet for your team, or to sign up to be added to a team. You also might have your class bumped if there  are les than 3 cars in it, so this is something else to verify at the timing truck before parking on the grid because you may have to label your car differently if classes are merged with others.

Tech Inspection is open from 7:15 to 8:45 Bring your car and helmet to the tech inspection line.

Gridding: Once you have a sticker (or marker) showing your car has passed the inspection:

1st heat drivers park your car in "GRID A" then go walk the course

2nd heat drivers park your car in "GRID B" and then go walk the course

Run Order and work assignments will be posted at the NER truck on site after the teams are defined.

Once your car is gridded:

Walk the course. The course is open for walking at 8:00  and course closed is planned for 8:45

A mandatory drivers meeting is planned for 9:05 to explain general event information, run and work order, safety procedures,  etc. Please come to the driver meeting prepared to either run or work.

9:15 All drivers go to your car or check in at the truck for your work assignment.

1st car off at 9:30

Breaks: 2 Heats includes a short lunch break. Please plan to stay on site all day.  Although there are local convenience stores, sub and pizza shops, Dunkin' Donuts and gas stations in the area, we advise bringing a lunch, snacks and enough water to remain hydrated.

Cleanup: Workers in the last run group volunteer to stack cones for easy pick up. Feel free to ask if you can do anything else to pick up and pack up at the end of the day. We are a volunteer organization, and at the end of the day, whether you are a member or you have joined us with a weekend membership, remember that this is your club and your help is welcome.

Trophy Meeting: We will hold a trophy meeting after the truck is packed up. Please stay and see if your team has won anything.

Leaving Early: It is not acceptable to leave without fulfilling your work assignment in both the AM and the afternoon.  Each run group relies on the other to keep the event running to completion.  In cases of emergency, please see Bob Davis, NER event chair, before leaving.
