NASA at Targa California

Targa California

About this event

Okay, so it’s official!

Targa Baja California is going to happen: Friday October 31 thru Sunday November 2nd.

This three day event is open to 1975 and older cars, with allowances for continuation models, and unique newer cars (Renault R5 turbo for example, Superformance / FF Cobras, etc) Check with us if you have something cool to share, and we will consider it.

Starting in Alpine California (east of San Diego off highway 8) we will wind our way over some of the best sports car roads the west has to offer. This is a NON competitive event with no prizes, no rush, and filled with fun. You will want to arrive early on Thursday afternoon, October 30th, so you can check in with us, relax by the pool, or do a little gambling at our HQ hotel- the Viejas Casino Resort in Alpine (east of San Diego right off Hwy 8) Call them at 800 938-2532 or e mail them through their site www.viejas.com . Must mention code 141030Targa for the group discount.

Friday 7:00 am October 31st Driver meeting in the parking lot. Then off we go exploring USA side roads to Tecate USA. We will regroup there before crossing together. The Honorable Mayor of Tecate will be waiting to greet us with a hosted breakfast, while our cars are watched over surrounding the town square.

After breakfast an escorted drive over more backroads with perhaps a stop or two for refreshments. We will arrive to our HQ hotel in Ensenada , the San Nicolas Hotel and Casino (what's with these guys and the gambling ? ;-) ) www.snhotelcasino.com Mention Targa for the discount.

Then an afternoon drive . Dinner is open Friday night, but we hope you join us at Bronco's Steak House right across the street from the hotel. The cars are safely guarded in the hotel's guarded parking lot. After dinner stumble (or crawl) back across the street to the hotel.

Saturday 8:30 am Nov 1st Meet in the parking lot so we can enjoy a day of driving, wine tasting , an Asada (steak bbq included with your entry) , and more driving. Relax at the hotel for a bit before meeting all poolside for the Fiesta Mexicana dinner and entertainment, Our drives for the day will be escorted as well.

Sunday 9:00 am Nov 2nd. Meet in the parking lot for our escorted drive to the border crossing in Tecate. Arrangements are in process for a speedy crossing. Of course the USA side has fun roads to choose from before hitting the interstates.

Cost? $310 per entry PLUS NASA membership $45. If you entered Targa California 2014, you are already a NASA member that is good till end of March 2015. DEADLINE for refunds September 18, and only $210 of the fee / no NASA member fee refund. Entry OK after deadline if space allows. Entry is limited.

Insurance : Mandatory! Proof of insurance can be e mailed to me after you enter. Insurance south of the border is being taken care of by fellow car super enthusiast David Martinez at dmgil57@gmail.com . Contact him as soon as you can so he can guide you through the process of purchasing value coverage and liability for your car. Almost all on line / in person companies that offer insurance over the border, do NOT cover our classic cars. David will send me a list of all the covered entrants before the event.

Passport! Yes, either a current passport or passport card is needed. Apply now.

Goodies- no extras this time around. This event became possible "at the last minute" so we are short on time to organize a full portion of goodies. We will have something nice so you can remember the event.

MEALS: Breakfast included Friday October 31 and Dinner November 1st, with your entry (up to two people per entry)

GASOLINE: Pemex , the state brand, is pretty good stuff. If you are worried about it, fill up in Tecate USA , before you cross the border. Then supplement any gas bought in Mexico with race gas (the guy supplies a lot of the Baja race teams) in Ensenada. We'll hook you up.

Thank you and lets go have a fun adventure!
