NASA at NOLA Motorsports Park

NOLA Motorsports Park

About this event

Attention NASA Drivers

2020 has not been a particularly good year and hopefully 2021 will be much better for everyone. I will guarantee you one thing that will definitely be better and that is the NOLA NASA HPDE and Race Program. The track has turned over the operation of NASA events at NOLA to a group of dedicated individuals who want nothing more than hosting safe and quality HPDE and Racing events at NOLA Motorsports Park. I am honored to have been selected as the leader of that group, in the role of Regional Director. This is all being done so that you can enjoy the sport that we all love. The track is currently undergoing some management changes which I am sure that you will be pleased with. You can do your part by registering for our events and participating. You will notice many changes from the minute you arrive at the track. We also have financial goals to meet so it has become necessary to make changes to the event pricing structure. We have added an option for an annual registration which actually costs less per event than last year's pricing. If you do choose the Season Pass option, please go ahead and pay, but go no further with your registration. You will be hearing from the registrar regarding how to complete your HPDE or Racing/TT registration. Please feel free to call or email me if you have any questions.

GENERAL INFORMATION - Click here for the: Tentative Schedule

For the January event we will be using the 2.75 mile circuit with the "esses".  There will be Racing, HPDE, & Time Trials on Saturday and Sunday. Unfortunately, we will still be under Covid restrictions and will not be able to host social events.

The NASA Nola Region has developed a set of Supplemental Regulations which contains information regarding at track check-in procedures, series points and awards for Race, TT, and HPDE (yes, there will be year-end awards for HPDE!), what you can expect when arriving at the track, plus much more.

Click here to register for the NOLA Motorsports Park Open Track Day on Friday, January 22, 2021. The OTD will be running the same configuration as the NASA event. (The open track day is NOT a NASA event and is not associated with NASA - it is run by the track).
Parade Laps – We will be doing parade laps on the 2.75 mile circuit during the lunch hour on Saturday and Sunday. See the schedule for the exact time. $20 per car each day. You will take about 5 laps behind a pace car at normal highway speeds. Passengers are allowed. You can prepay when registering.

Anyone who is a member of NASA (or a NASA sanctioned car club, such as INEX) may participate. Minimum age is 18 (16 with parental consent).

Camping - You may reserve an RV space which has 50-amp power and water service. These reservations are made online, directly with the track. https://www.nolamotor.com/rentals

HPDE & TT INFORMATION

HPDE drivers are required to get a pre-tech inspection for your car performed by a qualified shop. Click here for a list of shops. You may also use your own shop. There will be a $50 charge to perform a tech inspection at the track if you do not bring your completed tech form. You also run the risk of failing tech and not being able to participate. Click here for NASA Nola HPDE Pre-Tech Form.

HPDE GENERAL NOTICE - If you do not see the HPDE Group that you want, it is full. If you would like to be added to a waitlist for your group, please email Felix.Bircher@iongeo.com with the group in the subject line. Please feel free to contact Felix with any general registration questions.

HPDE1 is where it all starts. If you've never been on track before sign up for HPDE1. If this group is full and you have not previously been signed off to run in a solo NASA group, please do not register to run in a higher HPDE group - you will not be allowed to run in a solo group.

HPDE 2 is for drivers that have been signed off to drive on their own. Normal passing rules apply. If we have instructors available, you can request to have an instructor ride with you. Please see this notice before signing up.

HPDE 3: Saturday will slowly work up to additional passing by the end of the day. Sunday will be a continuation, starting with limited passing everywhere in the first session and then very quickly picking up the pace in the subsequent sessions. This should better prepare drivers for HPDE-4. Sunday only entries should be aware of this. At many NASA NOLA events, there will be one planned "drill" during the weekend to help drivers experience certain advanced aspects of track driving and better prepare them for TT or HPDE4.

Note to HPDE 2 & 3 Drivers: Advanced instruction for level 2 and 3 drivers will be made available as instructor capacity permits. This may include the instructor riding right seat in your car or you taking a few hot laps in the instructor's car. Email Felix Bircher if you are interested.

HPDE 4: Only advanced drivers with open passing skills are permitted in HPDE-4. All HPDE-4 drivers who are new to NASA must be pre-approved by the HPDE-4 Group Leader or Chief Instructor before being allowed to drive in HPDE-4.

For a more detailed explanation of what HPDE is all about visit this page on the NASA website: https://nasaproracing.com/hpde/

Time Trials: TT is open passing. You must possess a NASA TT license to be in this class. If you need to apply for a license, do it now.
Here is a link to the NASA TT website: https://timetrial.nasaseries.com

Todd Morrell is the TT Series Leader. Please feel free to contact Todd with any questions.

Instructor: HPDE instructors... Sign up under Instructor. Instructors can run in TT or HPDE-4. If you are instructing but not driving, choose "Instructor" as your class.

Race & TT Cars with Annual Tech Stickers are not required to go through tech at each event.

CANCELLATION/NON-ATTENDANCE POLICY

If you wish to cancel your registration, please contact Felix Bircher at Felix.Bircher@iongeo.com.
Our standard policy is to give you a full credit for a future NASA NOLA event with 10 days notice. If you cancel within 10 days or you are a no show, no credit. At any time prior to the start of a race day, the event organizer may deem the track un-drivable due to severe inclement weather. If this happens, a credit towards a future event will be issued for each day of cancellation. Once cars are on the track for the first session, there will be no cancellation. Any updates to this policy will be given 30 days prior to events.
