Mojave Magnum #6

Mojave Air and Space Port

About this event

We're back!!

MKM Racing Promotions announces the Spring 2018 running of the Mojave Magnum!

Mojave Magnum #6 - April 14-15, 2018, Mojave Airport, Mojave, CA.

See how fast your car or bike can go on a smoothly paved mile and a half runway from a standing start!

Both Saturday and Sunday are now open for entries!  Enter for one day or both! Only a couple of days left to sign up!

If you put in your entry but your choice of days shows as "sold out". PLEASE go ahead and enter anyway, which puts you on our Waiting List.  Right now the waiting list is empty and you will almost certainly get in.  There are always last-minute cancellations and spots open up. We will not charge your credit card until you actually get a spot in the event.

IMPORTANT NOTICE TO ALL ENTRANTS!!

Things are different since we last ran!

THE ENTIRE CLASS STRUCTURE HAS CHANGED. You will not be entering the same class you did previously.

There is now a limit of 60 vehicles per day to allow for more runs for the racers.

We're sorry, but to simplify things we have dropped mix-and-match driving and "floating" driver-only entries.  You can now only drive the vehicle you are entered with.

Also gone are special classes like SSE and LSA.  Everyone now uses the same set of rules.

Several safety equipment requirements have changed.  For example, M2005 and SA2005 helmets are now too old for use.

Please read our "changes" document for more details; also the new Car and Bike preparation guides.

MEMBERS ONLY POLICY: The airport requires that our events be closed to the general public.  Entry into the event area will be restricted to those who have a current membership in MKM Racing, plus MKM staff, official guests, airport and safety staff, preapproved vendors, and prequalified media.  We're sorry if this causes a problem for you but we have no say in the matter.   Please DO NOT contact the airport and complain about this!  It will only make things worse.

MKM Membership is not included in your entry.  Memberships are not sold to the general public. Memberships can be purchased as part of the entry process, or at the event.  For this event, all racers must buy a temporary (good for one weekend) Racer membership for $40. This also includes two weekend guest (non-racer) memberships (for crew etc.).  Minors (under 18) don't need memberships and are no-charge.  If you need to go beyond 2 guests, additional weekend non-racer memberships are available for adult guests and crew members for $20 per person. All purchases of memberships must be approved by the racer or by a designated team member A name must be supplied for each membership. No Generic Memberships.  A membership is required before a person is able to sign waivers, claim a wristband, and get into the gate. Each wristband must be claimed (at the registration room or at the gate) in person by its wearer.  There are no refunds for unclaimed memberships or wristbands.  Memberships and wristbands cannot be sold, given away, loaned or transferred to someone else.  Abuse of these rules will not be tolerated.  All vehicles entering the gate are subject to search.

The ONLY way to enter this event is here, online.  We do not accept or process telephoned or paper-based entries.  We will not accept any "walk-in" or in-person entries. We will not accept any entries or add-ons at the track.

All Rookies (those who have never run with us at Mojave) must be at the airport no later than 7 AM on their first race day for roll call and mandatory activities.

All runs will be for the full 1.5 miles. There will be intermediate speed traps at the 0.5 and 1.0-mile marks, with all three speeds printed on the slips.

Access to the track is on a first come, first served basis.  No specific racer will be guaranteed any specific number of runs, or any runs at all.  Factors such as number of entries, entrant time of arrival, aircraft operations, weather, and equipment malfunction can all have an effect.  We intend that there will be an overall average of at least 6 runs per vehicle per day, barring any events beyond our control.  Many will be able to do more runs than that. WARNING: If you do not plan to show up at Mojave until race morning at the track, you will not get as many runs as you would have if you had arrived and gone through check-in and tech the day before.  You have been warned.  Get to the track early!

Airport security requires that we enforce the following restrictions:  NO DRONES or anything else that flies; NO "HOVERBOARDS" or skateboards; NO ALCOHOL CONSUMPTION inside the gate, this is a dry event; NO FIREARMS, WEAPONS, FIREWORKS or OPEN FLAMES; All pets and service animals must be leashed or restrained at ALL TIMES; children under 18 must be adult-supervised at all times.

Event requirements

Entry is limited to 60 total vehicles each day.  Open to both cars and motorcycles. Open only to licensed drivers/riders 18 years of age or older (sorry, we cannot allow minor drivers or riders).  Motorcycle riders must have a motorcycle endorsement on their driver's license. Speed limits apply to most entries, based on safety equipment, tire ratings, and prior racing experience.  Basic safety equipment (belts, helmet, proper clothing, etc.) is required.  3-point OEM-type seat belts are the minimum for cars. For cars, speeds above 170 require a minimum racing firesuit; and speeds above 190 MPH require the driver to wear a racing firesuit, racing gloves/socks/shoes, arm restraints, and a head-and-neck restraint device; the car must have racing harnesses; and a roll bar is required unless the car is exempt. (Speeds above 220 require a roll cage, fire system, etc.)  All car drivers must wear a real auto racing helmet, SA2010, SA2015 or FIA 8859/8860. CAR DRIVERS CANNOT WEAR MOTORCYCLE HELMETS, AND VICE VERSA.  All motorcycle riders must wear a minimum of full leathers/boots/gloves and a full face motorcycle helmet with face shield. Motorcycle helmets that are only rated DOT, with no other rating, are not allowed. We require other ratings such as Snell M2010, M2015 or ECE2205.  Snell ratings older than 2010 are no longer allowed. Snell K (kart) helmets are not allowed.  Motocross helmets are not allowed.  All vehicles must meet our safety standards and be in good condition. Tires must be speed rated at least "W" or "Z" (for cars) or "V"(for bikes) unless you can assure Tech that your inherent top speed will not exceed your tire ratings. Tires must be manufactured in 2012 or later (i.e., the 4-digit sidewall date code must end in 12 or higher).  Other restrictions may apply.  See the FAQ, Car and Bike Preparation Guides, and Rule Book on our web site for details.
