About this event
The “Test & Tune Lapping Shakedown” day is an opportunity to have your car pre-teched by our Scrutineers to make sure it is rules-compliant, to install and test timing equipment in the cars, and to get in some practice lapping before Ice Race #1. All novice drivers are expected to attend this event before competing in their first race. This is a low-cost lapping day, and should serve to make race days a much smoother and better experience for all.
As there will no longer be a morning practice at Ice Race events, attendance at the Test & Tune Lapping day is highly encouraged. In fact, grid priority for Race #1 will be given to cars in the order they register for the Test & Tune day. Limited race-day parade laps at pace-car speed will be available to those unable to attend the Test & Tune.
There will be a maximum of 24 cars at this event, with no limit on drivers.
NOTE: Seasonal Ice Racer parking at the MCO Winter Track will remain FREE, however there will be a $120 deposit per parking spot, refundable once clean-up conditions are met.
Rules of the Event
- This is a low-cost Lapping day for testing and practice; it is NOT a competition event. Save it for the races.
- Open passing - DO NOT point your arm out of the window! Be aware of your surroundings.
- Absolutely NO contact, let faster cars by.
- NO LIVE TOWING during sessions - If you get stuck, you might be out there for a while.
- First tow per driver is FREE. $20 per tow afterward.

12:00 Open Lapping - 20 minute Run Groups until 14:20
16:30 Ambulance departs
Lapping Run Groups (A & B) - 20 minute sessions

Note: If there are cars stuck in the snow banks, the session may end 5 minutes early for towing.
Event requirements
- Helmets must be minimum SA2010 or M2010
- Valid Provincial Driver’s License
- Drivers must be minimum 18 years of age, or shall submit a completed ASN Canada FIA Annual Parental Consent Waiver at every event, signed by at least one parent/guardian and witnessed
- Passengers must also be registered as Drivers at the event, in the front passenger seat only, contingent on the compliance to the same helmet and safety restraint system requirements as Drivers
