TSD Rally 4: A 2021 MBCA Peachtree TSD Championship Event
Sunday, October 10th
It is time for the fourth rally of the 2021 MBCA Peachtree TSD Rally Championship Series!
The rally is going to be “tour” – style Time-Speed-Distance (TSD) competition. The rally will be relatively straight-forward, all significant turns are clearly identified with mileages provided on the Route Instructions. The goal on the rally is to maintain “on time” driving on the timed portions of the rally according to given instructions.
MBCA membership is not required to participate. You are not required to drive Mercedes-Benz, though it is encouraged. If you are a non-member, you will have an opportunity to join the Mercedes-Benz Club of America, Peachtree Section.
This rally is the fourth of the four rallies, which will constitute the 2021 MBCA Peachtree TSD Championship Series. MBCA members will earn championship points based on their overall finish in this event.
This event will use the Richta GPS Checkpoints app to record arrival times at checkpoints. A smartphone or tablet (Android or iOS) with GPS is required during the running of this rally. Details about obtaining, installing and using this app is available at the Rally Resources webpage on the MBCA Peachtree website.
We will meet in one of the Parking lots of the Unicoi State Park Lodge, near Helen, GA, at noon for a start time of 1 pm. The rally will take us through the beautiful north Georgia mountain scenery during the very beginning of the fall foliage season, along some long stretches of tree lined highway with spectacular views of the southern Appalachian Mountains around several apline lakes with remarkable vistas. Driving through the rally route from the start to the finish will take about 3 hours and will be just over 88 miles long. The Rally will conclude at the Blue Ridge Overloook in Black Rock Mountain State Park (on the continental divide at 3,571 feet elevation) in Mountain City, GA. A pavilion has been rented for our event and there will be ample picnic tables. All roads on the rally route are paved 2-lane roads, with one very short tenth of a mile gravel section, however several sections are winding roads. Since we are entering two Georgia State Parks, each participant will need a annual pass or a $5 day pass (available at park entrance).
General Instructions and route instructions for the rally will be provided by e-mail prior to the event, and participants will be expected to print out their own copies. Organizers will send the scoring results by e-mail.
