A Unique Family Experience At the Presidio

By Eva Schlosser

Two American classics are Disneyland and Bowling. Come spend the day at the Presidio, finding out about the history of Walt Disney at the Walt Disney Family Museum and follow that up with a round of bowling at the newly renovated Presidio Bowling Center. You will begin your day on your own at the Museum. We suggest 2-3 hours. The museum opens at 10:00am. After your self guided tour, make your way to the Bowling Center. We have several lanes reserved for our members at 2:00pm. You can enjoy the game and order what you like from the grill. Spend the day learning history and then playing games just like Walt would have done.

A bit of history about the museum: The Walt Disney Family Museum brings to life the fascinating achievements and inspiring story of Walt Disney, the man who raised animation to an art, transformed the film industry, tirelessly pursued innovation, and created a global, distinctively American legacy that continues to influence and inspire.

The creator of Mickey Mouse, Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, Disneyland and much more, Walt Disney was a risk-taker whose artistry, imagination and vision influenced popular culture through animated and live-action films, television programs, theme parks and new technologies. Co-founded by Walt's daughter, Diane Disney Miller, and grandson, Walter E.D. Miller, the Muesum is owned and operated by the Walt Disney Family Foundation, a non-profit foundation.

Opened in October 2009, the Museum is located in the scenic Presidio of San Francisco, adjacent to the recently refurbished Main Post, in a former U.S Army barracks renovated by renowned architect David Rockwell. The 40,000 square foot Museum tells the story of the man behind the myth through Walt Disney's own voice and interactive galleries featuring historic materials and artifacts, early drawings and animation, movies, music, state-of-the-art technologies, listening stations, more than 200 video screens, a 14-foot model of Disneyland and much more. Visitors can also enjoy the Museum store, and the 114 seat, Fantasia-inspired theater, which shows Disney Classics. Entree Fee for the Museum is $20 per person, $15 per Senior and $12 for kids.

After the museum meet us at the Presidio Bowling Center. We have several lanes reserved for 1 hour starting at 2:00pm. Please be prompt as the lanes are reserved by the hour. We anticipate 1 hour per game.

Registrations closes December 26, 2014.

Note: The museum is historical only and not affiliated with Disneyland.
