Held Under SCCA Time Trial Rules

  Perfect opportunity to get out on the track and have some fun.  We will be using the Grand Course layout at NCM Motorsports Park. 

 

Registration:  Drivers must preregister for the Time Trial. Registration will NOT be available on site. All competitors must be a member of SCCA.

If you are not a member, you have two options:

  1. Purchase a SCCA weekend membership. You can do this when you register online. Cost is $15
  2. Become a SCCA member. This may be done before you register. Go to https://www.scca.com/pages/join-scca. If you use a SCCA member as a reference, you may be eligible for a discount. If you don’t know a SCCA member, you can use the event chairman’s name: David Melton, member # 297980. There are also discounts for members of the military and those 24 years old and younger.

 

Entry Fees: 

Early bird entry fee when paying by credit card/online (before July 10th, 2019)

Entry fee (after July 11th and before August 1, 2019)

Transponder Rental Fee--Transponders are required for the timed sessions.

Schedule:

Mandatory Drivers Meeting at 8:15 am

First advanced session begins at 9:00 am, followed by Intermediate then novice. Three sessions each.

There wil be a mandatory driver debrief after each session.
 

Track shuts down for lunch form 12:00-1:00

1:00 Advanced Drivers begin their first timed session, followed by intermediate and novice. followed by three more sessions.

 

 

Event Description:

  • Untimed Sessions: These sessions will give drivers an opportunity to learn the track and to earn their Time Trial Novice Permit. An instructor must sign off for your to run timed laps.
  • Timed Laps: The best lap counts towards the driver’s overall time for the event. Transponders must be used and will be available for rental for a fee of $25.

Time Trial Novice Permit: Drivers that successfully complete the Untimed sessions will be eligible for a Time Trial Novice Permit. There is no charge for your Time Trial Novice Permit.

NCM Motorsports Park has strict sound restrictions.  Vehicle must not exceed 103db (as measured 50 feet from track).  If vehicle exceeds limit, participants will be given black flag  and  vehicle will be disqualified and no refund will be given.  

Event requirements

Pre-registration/Prepay is required. No walk up registrations will be taken.

 

DRIVER ELIGIBILITY:

Drivers should meet one of the following:

  • Those who hold a valid state drivers license, or
  • Those who hold a racing license from a recognized motorsports organization, or
  • Others who demonstrate evidence of experience relevant to high-performance driving.

All drivers aged 15 to 17 must contact event officials before the event. A completed Annual Parental Consent, Release and Waiver of Liability, Assumption of Risk and Indemnity Agreement and a completed Minor’s Assumption of Risk Acknowledgment is required (note: forms vary by state and witnessing method). A SCCA Time Trials or Competition License is not required. Current SCCA membership (weekend memberships are available) is required.

All drivers must attend all mandatory drivers' meetings, classroom sessions and debrief sessions and must drive in a manner consistent with the safety nature of the event.

HELMET AND EQUIPMENT:

Helmets certified as meeting the applicable Snell, FIA, or SFI standards are acceptable. Acceptable standards include: Snell ratings SA2015, SA2010, SAH2010, SA2005, M2015, M2010, M2005, K2010 and K2005, SFI ratings 31.1, 31.1A, 3.12, 31.2A, 31.1 2005, 41.1, 41.1A, 41.2, 41.2A, 41.2 2005 and 24.1, FIA 8860-2010, 8859-2015.

There is a considerable gap between a minimum standard and the best protection that current technology can provide. It is recommended that seats, restraint systems, roll bars, and helmets meet the highest safety standards possible.

All participants shall wear shoes which fully cover the foot at least to the ankle while on course.

ELIGIBILITY OF VEHICLES:

  1. Seats and Seat Belts
    All vehicles must provide factory original (or better) seats that are securely mounted and seat belts with a minimum of 3 mounting points mounted in accordance with manufacturers’ recommendations when applicable. (SFI or FIA rated are recommended).
  2. Convertibles
    It is highly recommended that all convertible vehicles be equipped with an aftermarket roll bar that meets or exceeds the standards set in the SCCA HILL CLIMB Safety Standards. However, TRACK EVENT Safety Standards requires the vehicle meets at least one of the following criteria and is not subject to any of the below exceptions:
    1. The vehicle is equipped with an aftermarket roll bar that meets or exceeds the standards set in the SCCA HILL CLIMB Safety Standards.
    2. The vehicle is equipped with documented factory installed roll over protection (examples of manufacture documented roll over protection would include hydroformed and reinforced a-pillars or windshield frames and factory installed roll bars and/or "pop-up" bars that are designated as roll over protection.
    3. The Vehicle is a 2006-year model or newer.
  3. Convertible Exceptions
    In addition, vehicles that were manufactured since 2006 that fall into any of the below categories must meet the criteria stated above for factory or aftermarket roll over protection:Note: Targa and T-Top vehicles are classified as "hard tops" and do not have to meet the terms and conditions of the convertible policy.
    1. Vehicles equipped with factory V8 or forced induction engine
    2. Vehicles modified meaningfully beyond the factory performance potential (examples: engine swaps, aftermarket forced induction)
