SCCA-CDR July 22-23 Club Racing at PPIR Cancelled
Due to low entry and worker counts, the Continental Divide Region Board of Directors, with the advice and consent of the Club Racing Committee, has reluctantly decided to cancel the double national/double regional/PDX/Club Time Trials event scheduled for July 21-22 at Pikes Peak International Raceway.
It is with deep regret that the board makes this decision; however, facing a substantial loss for the event, the board acted to protect funds for future club races and other programs. Although registration is not yet closed, the board acted now to allow our drivers, volunteers and vendors the maximum amount of time to make new plans. Our sincere apologies go out to all those affected by this cancellation.
SCCA-CDR club racing is not dead; We plan to refocus our energy on a successful race October 13-14 at Pueblo Motorsports Park.
It's no secret that club racing is facing monumental challenges; reports of low entries from other sanctioning bodies are numerous. However, the Continental Divide Region remains committed to staging a quality program for our members. It is our hope that this cancellation will serve as a wake-up call to all who care about racing to roll up our sleeves, examine our program with a critical eye and present a better, more attractive program to our members.
The next SCCA-CDR board meeting will be held Tuesday, August 7, at 6pm, usually at the Village Inn at 1430 Harrison Road in Colorado Springs. Board meetings are open to all members; watch your inbox or
SCCA-CDR.org for any changes.
Thank you for your cooperation and understanding.
