Hittin' the Highway for Hounds and Hairballs Road Rally
The Arctic Alaska Region of the Sports Car Club of America will be sanctioning the first event in the 2012 Summer Road Rally Series on Sunday, July 15th. This rally will be a part of the Chugiak-Eagle River Chamber of Commerce's annual Bear Paw Festival, whose theme this year is It's a Jungle Out There!
RPM Alaska has been involved with fundraiser events through the motorsport of Road Rally since 1978! Hittin' the Highway for Hounds and Hairballs Road Rally will be no different. As you may have guessed by the name, this event will be one to raise funds for our beloved cats and dogs through Straw for Dogs.
The starting location for this 2012 Summer Road Rally Series event will be in the parking lot of the Eagle River UAA Campus (the large white building located at the traffic signal) at 10928 Eagle River Road, Eagle River, just off the Glenn Highway. Mark your calendars and head over to www.alaskascca.motorsportreg.com and register today.
We value your online registration, yet onsite Registration begins in Eagle River at 1:00PM. You must arrive eat 1:00PM as you will need to take care of final registration matters, your vehicle tech inspection and more! So that you may plan the rest of your day, you should be at the rallies end by 5:00PM. Please register so that there will be a copy of the Route Instructions for YOUR TEAM at the Rally's starting location!
Don't have a dedicated rally partner? No worries—we are encouraging folks to arrive and form teams at the starting location! Register up so folks know you're looking for a rally partner.
Event requirements
REGISTRATION and ENTRY FEES
We encourage all of you planning to enter this event to register here at http://www.alaskascca.motorsportreg.com. One of your team will need to register the vehicle and their position on the team (Driver or Navigator) and the other will need to register their position on the team and personal information only. The entry fee for this road rally season is fifteen dollars for an SCCA member of the rally team and twenty dollars a rally team member needing an SCCA Weekend Membership. Please bring exact cash or check for payment at the event should you choose not to pay online when you register.
Due to the nature of the motorsport known as Road Rally, Rallymasters must have ample copies of the Route Instructions and Checkpoint Slips prepared in advance of the event; there are no copiers along the highway! This is why we need your registration here and we will keep online registration open until 11:59PM on Saturday, July 14th.

DRIVERS LICENSES
Drivers must present a valid driver’s license. If under 18-years-of-age, competitors (anyone in the vehicle) will need an SCCA Minor Waiver signed by their parents (or legal guardians) and presented prior to competition. Contact the Region at 243-2122 or 745-2013 (9A-7P) to obtain a form prior to the event if parents are not going to be at the event to sign.
CLASSES and VEHICLE INSPECTION
The SCCA will recognize Expert and Novice Classes for this event.
Each team will be required to complete a Vehicle Inspection prior to the start of competition.
