After a two-year hiatus, GVC is back at Mosport!

GVC and the Trillum Chapter of BMW Club Canada are proud to announce our joint sponsorship of a three-day weekend HP driving school on the Grand Prix track at Canadian Tire Motorsports Park (formerly known as Mosport International Raceway).

Important Facts about this event:

  • This school is open to drivers at all levels (including Solo Group), and instructors are needed.

  • Registration (instructors included) requires membership in the Trillium chapter at at the Associate level or higher (Assoc. memberships are free).  Click here to apply for membership:
    http://trillium-bmwclub.ca/content/about-membership

  • Format:  Friday is open-track practice for instructors (no cost) and Solo Group drivers (extra fee) only.  Formal instruction for all students begins Saturday morning and ends Sunday afternoon

  • Save for Solo Group drivers, all students will be assigned a personal in-car instructor for the weekend.

  • Student  and Solo fees are set on a rolling schedule, with the lowest fees benefitting those who register 6 weeks or more in advance.  Instructors are charged a deposit of $105 (less $5 handling fee) that will be refunded at the end of the weekend.

  • Fees include a fabulous banquet at CTMP's elegant new hospitality center.

  • CONVERTIBLES, T-Tops and Targa tops meeting minimum requirements are accepted at this school.  See event requirements page for details.

Event requirements

Pre-requisites and Conditions:

  • You must be 18 years of age or older
  • You must have a full G License (Canadian citizens) or US state driver's license
  • You must be a Trillium Club Member.   http://trillium-bmwclub.ca/content/about-membership
The process is as follows: You must first join as a Web member to get a web ID.  It takes 2 days to get the web ID processed/approved (there are about 100 "bot" attacks per day and these must be filtered out manually to retain the real people). You then request associate membership, and contact the registrar (trilliumregistration@hotmail.com) to be promoted to a full member to register and pay.
  • You must bring an approved and signed Technical Inspection Form and Trillium waiver
  • Any make of open-top car (convertible, T-top or Targa top) with factory installed rollover protection meets our standard. On track, the convertible top must be in the "up" position or the removable components latched in place. If the open-top car does not have factory installed rollover protection, a roll bar or roll cage must be installed. In that case it can run with the top down with the removable components not in place. It is up to you to ensure that the roll bar or cage meets generally accepted standards for such equipment, such as those of CASC-OR. A roll bar must also meet the “broom stick rule”, namely that the driver’s helmeted head is below a bar resting on the top of the windshield and the bar. In the case of a rollover in an open car, there is a danger of losing a limb or a hand unless arm restraints are employed.
  • You must have a proper helmet (limited loaners at the track): Snell SA or M 2005 rating, or newer
  • The driver and passenger seat belts must be equal. This means if your driver seat has a 5-point harness, your passenger seat must also have a 5-point harness.
  • Long pants are mandatory, no tank tops, no open shoes, no synthetics (cotton, or silk only)
  • Driver substitutions are not allowed
  • No refunds due to hardship at the track
  • Solo students must be pre-approved by the Trillium Chief Instructor – no exceptions!
