Special Information for COVID-19

Special Event Operating Procedures

  • Events held at TaxSlayer Center will have a cap of 50 competitors.
  • Online registration through MotorsportReg is strongly encouraged, to allow for advance planning and minimize the need for face-to-face interaction between our registration workers and other competitors.
  • Any persons who register for the event once the cap of 50 competitors has been reached will go into the waitlist. Competitors on the waitlist will be promoted to a confirmed registration in a first-come, first-serve basis (earliest registrants on the waitlist promoted first) should any current confirmed registrants cancel their registration.
  • It will be possible, but not guaranteed under any circumstances, that a waitlist registrant may gain entry to the event on the day of, if a confirmed registrant does not show up to the event and check-in. Again, the event cap of 50 competitors will still apply, and waitlist registrants are again promoted on a first-come, first-serve basis. To qualify for this, the waitlist registrant must be present at the event during the on-site registration and check-in window (8 am – 9 am). During this period the waitlist registrant may complete a tech inspection to verify that their car is safe for entry to the event. If by the end of normal on-site registration, the total number of registered and checked-in competitors is less than 50, then any persons who were on the waitlist at the end of online registration, and are present at the event, may be promoted to confirmed entrants. It must be stressed again that there is NO GUARANTEE that any waitlist registrant will gain entry to the event, even if they are present during the on-site registration and check-in window. We will be keeping firmly to our event cap of 50 competitors.
  • If you have registered in advance on MotorsportReg, and believe that you may be unable to attend the event for any reason, it is strongly encouraged that you cancel your registration to free up space for others, or allow persons on the waitlist to gain entry to the event.
  • (Revised 6/22/2020) For SCCA members, it is strongly encouraged that you complete an Annual Waiver form. In Iowa and Illinois, this Annual Waiver form can be signed by the competitor in advance and witnessed by a notary public, or signed by the competitor at the event and witnessed by an SCCA Official. If you have filled out an Annual Waiver form in advance and had this notarized, you can submit this Annual Waiver to the SCCA by sending to the e-mail address membership@scca.com. If you fill out an Annual Waiver on-site, this can be submitted by the region to SCCA. When fully processed, you will be issued a “hard card” by SCCA which will act as your signed waiver. The Annual Waiver form MUST be printed in color. The Adult Annual Waiver form can be found at the following link: https://cdn.connectsites.net/user_files/scca/downloads/000/014/418/SCCA_Adult_Annual_Waiver_1306_01_16.pdf?1461713188
  • For non-members, and members who have not completed an Annual Waiver form, we will be working towards the use of electronic waivers as soon as possible. In the meantime, non-members and members who have not completed an Annual Waiver form will need to sign the normal waiver form. It is preferred if competitors who need to sign the normal waiver form are able to bring their own pen to sign the form, but if not, a pen will be provided for the competitor to keep after signing.
  • (Revised 6/22/2020) When possible, please park in the paddock/main parking area with an empty parking space between your vehicle and the next one.

Special Rules for COVID-19

  • It is expected that participants are able to understand, and follow ALL of these rules in order to participate in events under the current circumstances.
  • Masks or face coverings are MANDATORY. ALL participants, workers, competitors, etc. MUST wear a mask or face covering over their nose and mouth when outside of their car. Masks will not be provided by the region; competitors must supply and bring their own to the event.
  • Social distancing MUST be adhered to as much as possible. There should be a distance of at least 6 feet between any two persons. The only exception to this is if two persons are members of the same household.
  • As previously noted on May 10, we will not be offering loaner helmets for the time being Any competitor that does not show up with a helmet will not be allowed to participate in the event. If you do not have a helmet of your own, and need to source one, please refer to the following link for a detailed listing of allowable helmets under SCCA Autocross rules. https://www.scca.com/downloads/48190-2020-solo-helmet-certification-labels-2019-11-08/download
  • Our Rookie Coordinator program will be modified from normal practice as follows:
    • Maximum group size of 10. This results in a maximum of 9 novices under guidance, and the Rookie Coordinator.
    • While going through the daily functions, the use of masks or face coverings, and the practice of social distancing, must be adhered to.
    • Ride-alongs between the novice and the Rookie Coordinator will not be allowed. Instead, the Rookie Coordinator should observe the novice’s run(s) from a safe position at the side of the course.
  • Walk-up entries are allowed ONLY if the event cap has not already been reached prior to the end of online registration. If the event has reached cap prior to the end of online registration, no further entries will be allowed. If you are considering a walk-up entry, please review the entry list on MotorsportReg to understand how many people are already registered.
  • (Added 6/22/2020) Competitors are allowed to bring with ONE family member of the same household as “crew.” This +1 would be able to spectate or ride-along. All normal rules regarding waivers, and age eligibility for riders, will apply. Special rules for COVID-19 regarding use of masks, social distancing vs. persons not from the same household, and helmets will also apply. If possible, please let us know in advance if you are bringing a single family member with under this allowance, so that we have an accurate count of the total number of persons in attendance.
  • (Revised 6/22/2020) Any spectators beyond those allowed as specified above are prohibited.
  • (Revised 6/22/2020) Ride-alongs will not be allowed unless both persons are members of the same household.
  • Tech will be conducted by each competitor themselves, with guidance and oversight from the Chief of Tech. For competitors interested in completing an annual tech, it is strongly encouraged that competitors print off the attached annual tech form, and pre-fill in their own details prior to arrival. 2020 Annual Tech Agreement - 09Apr2020.pdf
  • Non-compliance with the rules above will first result in a warning. Further non-compliance will result in the competitor being asked to leave the event, and may result in a DSQ in the results. Following these rules is critical to GRR being able to host autocross events under the circumstances.
