About this event
Solvang is the Danish community at the heart of the scenic Santa Ynez Valley. GPX has arranged a tour to the area on Saturday June 10th. The tour will begin in Ventura at our usual rendezvous point, Carrow's Restaurant.
The route will follow the back roads to Santa Barbara then Gibraltar Road, Highway 154, over San Marcos Pass, with a look-see at the famous Cold Spring Tavern.
We'll have a rest stop in Los Olivos, and then try some of the country roads winding among the local wineries, which include some famous names.
The driving tour will end in Solvang.
A smorgasbord lunch has been arranged at the Bit O'Denmark Restaurant, 473 Alisal Road, Solvang, 93473 in the center of town. Lunch will be a fixed price, with tax and tip included, for $25.00 per head, paid in advance. Drinks are not included and will be paid at the restaurant.
Everyone is free to follow their own wishes after lunch. Some will stay in Solvang and shop, others will head for home. Some may find their own sight-seeing path of attractions or wineries in the vicinity. At least one of your tourmeisters proposes to stay overnight in nearby Buellton, and on Sunday visit the famously restored Mission Purisma near Lompoc. Tag-alongs are welcome.
Suggested donation to the Children's Dental Health Clinic is $10.00 (Cash or check only - at time of check in)
