GRAND PRIX REGION'S TOUR OF THE CANYONS HAS BEEN POSTPONED UNTIL FEB. 20
As Angeles Crest Highway may have snow, this tour goes up the canyons at a lower altitude but still lots of fun
Big Tujunga Canyon Road to Angeles Forest Road, across the outskirts of Palmdale then down Lake Hughes Road to Castaic
We will start at the Starbucks at 8241 Foothill Blvd. Sunland/Tujunga, CA 90140
We will meet at 8:00 AM and depart promptly at 9:00 AM. This event will be run under the PCA Guidelines. This way people and cars can more easily maintain physical distancing and face coverings at Check-In.
Starting up Big Tujunga Canyon Road there will likely be bicyclists and other possible obstructions. We will observe all speed limits, as they allow ample opportunity for spirited driving.
There will be a "Pit Stop" in Palmdale before the back roads of the Leona Valley
The Tour will end in Castaic at the I-5.
Due to the anticipated size of the event, participants may be divided into groups with staggered starts.
Participants will be assigned to a group with specified check in and departure times. Even if you are not a lead or sweep car, all members should be familiar with the PCA Tour Guidelines https://www.pca.org/resource/event-guidelines-tour
For safety reasons, PCA encourages monitoring GMRS Radios set to Channel 7, Sub-channel 20 to alert all participants to road conditions. If you have one, please bring it.
Reference Communicable Diseases: Please follow the PCA and GPX event guidelines. In need of volunteers to staff the Check-in for Event Waivers, etc. Answer the volunteer sign up question in the Registration section.
Also write down the Mobile numbers of the Lead and Sweep cars that will be given at the Participants' Meeting before the start of the tour.
A donation can be made online with part of the proceeds being given to the Children's Dental Health Clinic.
This is a “Rain or Shine” event.
Meet on Feb 20 at 8:00am for a 9:00 am departure from the parking lot of the Starbucks, 8241 Foothill Blvd, Sunland/Tujunga, CA 90140. Depending on the number of cars, it may be split into groups of cars with assigned Check In and Departure times and Lead and Sweep Cars. This information along with Route instructions will be sent several days before the event.
Signed PCA Contagious Disease (CDW) and Event Waivers (EV)W are required. Copies and instructions about these Waivers will be sent prior to the event.
A Donation may be made with part of the proceeds going to the Children's Dental Health Clinic. It is preferable to make the donation online to avoid handling money, but they will be accepted at event meeting place.
Car to car communication will be by GMRS (Walkie-Talkie) radio tuned to Channel 7, Sub-channel 20
