Discover two elements of Southern California History- Oranges and Airplanes

In 1873 the first Navel Oranges were brought to CA where the citrus industry literally blossomed to to cover thousands of acres. As it started in Riverside, it is commemorated at the California Citrus State Historical Park. http://www.parks.ca.gov/?page_id=649 Meet at the Park-9400 Dufferin Ave., Riverside, CA 92503

After the citrus tour, depart and meet at the March Field Air Museum, 22550 Van Buren Blvd, Riverside, 92518. With over 70 planes and other exhibits including Forward Operating Base Romeo Charley, a Viet Nam era representation. There are planes from a WW1- Nieuport 11 replica to WW2 P-38 and B-17 to Korea era F-80 and F-86 to Viet Nam F-4 and B-52 to F-16 and SR 71 and many more.


 

We will meet at the CA Citrus State Historic Park in Riverside. After the Citrus tour there will be an independent drive to March Field Air Museum- Not an organized caravan

We will meet at 8:30 AM and for a "Tour and Taste" tour through the groves.at 9:00 AM. The tour is free,but park fee is $5, $4.00 seniors.

Route from CA Citrus State Historic Park to March Field Air Museum is: From Parking Lot return to Dufferin Ave and turn left. Turn left from Dufferin Ave. onto Van Buren Blvd. and proceed 10.5 miles crossing over the 215 Freeway to Museum parking lot, 22550 Van Buren Blvd, March Air Reserve Base, CA, 92518. Parking is free; Museum entrance is $10

Lunch location is your option.

Route information will be sent again 3 days before the event.

This is a “Rain or Shine” event.
 

Event requirements

 Meet in the parking lot at the top of the hill at the California Citrus State Historic Park. Park Fee is $5.00 or $4.00 Seniors. Meeting time: 8:30 A.M. Free "Taste and Tour" walk through the groves begins at 9:00 sharp. Wear appropriate shoe for walking through an orange grove. Also bring hats, sunglasses, sun screen, water and etc.


Directions to the CA Citrus State Historic Park

From the West or East:

Exit the 91 Fwy. in Riverside at Van Buren Blvd and proceed southeast approximately 3 miles. Turn Left on Dufferin Ave. Turn right into the Park and proceed to the parking lot at the top of the hill. Pay at the kiosk- $5.00, $4.00 seniors.

Directions to March Field

Departure time for March Field is after the tour. Go back to Dufferin Ave. and Turn Left then turn left again on Van Buren Blvd. After crossing over the I-215 Freeway the March Field Air Museum parking lot will be on the left. There will be a guided tour of the facility with a group rate of $13 per person.
