About this event
Step back in time on March 5, 2016, for a look at life in the time of Gone With the Wind. We will meet at 10:00 at the Road to Tara Museum in Historic Jonesboro. We will tour the museum and enjoy the gift shop before we head for Stately Oaks, just a short distance from there, for a buffet lunch including a hot chicken salad, homemade rolls and a peach cobbler, catered by Gina's Bistro in Jonesboro. Our lunch will be in the last one room school house used in Clayton County. A docent will entertain us with some stories of the era. After lunch we will tour the lovely Stately Oaks Plantation. The Greek Revival home was built in 1839 and includes the original log kitchen used on the property, a well house, a tenant house, and Juddy's Country store.
The cost for this event is $ 35.00. $10.00 of that will be a donation to the American Cancer Society in memory of Charles Burrage. Check with your tax consultant for a deduction on your taxes. We must receive your reservation by February 25. The road to Tara Museum is located at 104 North Main Street in Jonesboro and is in the 1867 Historic Train Depot.
Stately Oaks is about a half mile away at 100 Carriage Lane on the other side of the tracks.
