About this event
The Carolinas Section will be hosting a Fun Rally in and around the Aiken, SC area on September 26, 2020. All MBCA members are invited to attend. This event will provide the opportunity for all of us to enjoy our Mercedes and comply with CDC COVID-19 guidelines. The majority of the time will be spent inside your car with your navigator.
Using easy to follow directions, participants will be directed over city and country roads (all paved). There will be a series of challenging questions that can be answered only by observing clues on the way. You will not need to leave your car. This is not a race. Participants will be judged on their ability to follow simple directions accurately and to answer the questions correctly.
Cars will be dispatched from the Aiken Visitors Center located at 406 Park Ave SE in Aiken at 5 to10 minute intervals. While waiting to be dispatched, the Visitor’s Center offers information on Aiken history including elaborate model railroad layouts.The first car will leave at 9:00 AM and last car will leave around 11:00 AM. Participants will be given their departure time prior to the event. A waiver will be required to be signed prior to departure on the drive.
The rally will terminate with lunch and all teams will arrive by 1:00 PM for lunch and awards. Lunch will be at the Willcox Hotel in Aiken. It will be held on the patio around the pool area. Social distancing will be practiced. The meal will include a plated lunch with dessert. All gratuities and tax are included. At the conclusion of lunch the rally questionnaires will be reviewed and prizes awarded. There will also be some door prizes drawn.The event should be completed by 3:00 PM.
Entry fee will be $60 per car (2 people) and will include lunch and all rally information. Each car will need a driver and a navigator. Additional people in the car are allowed but, due to the advantage of additional eyes looking for answers to the clues, any teams of over two people will not be eligible to win any of the awards. The event fee covers the lunch for 2 people. The fee for additional guests can be added at $30 each person
If you wish to join us for lunch but do not wish to participate in the rally, please sign up using the "Additional Guest" registration. You will be charged $30 per person and should arrive at the restaurant prior to 1 pm.
Those desiring an overnight stay before the rally can stay at one of the hotels listed below. Participants are encouraged to come early to enjoy the many unique shops and restaurants in Aiken.

Event requirements
The registration fee is $60 and includes all rally materials and lunch for two persons. The fee for additional passengers can be added at $30 each. However, any vehicle with teams over two people will not be eligible to win any of the awards. This rally is limited to 18 vehicles. All rally participants will be required to sign the liability waiver prior to departure.The rally will start at 9:00 am and will be end at a local Aiken restaurant about 1 pm. The luncheon should be over about 3 pm.
If you wish to attend the luncheon only, you may register as an "Additional Guest" for $30 per person.
