About this event

Join us for our FSR spring charity event ”A Salute to our Charities” at The Williamsburg - Hotel and Conference Center on June 16, 2012.
Representatives from our charities, the Central and Southeastern VA Foodbanks and Boys’ Home of Covington, Virginia, will be in attendance to answer questions about their programs.
Our guest speaker will be Maj Joe Jacobs, USMC (Ret) from the Board of Directors of “Wounded Wear,” a company that provides clothing modifications to America's wounded warriors.
The event will start at 11AM at the Foodbank of Southeastern Virginia (800 Tidewater Dr. in Norfolk) for the eastern members and a meeting place TBA for our western folks. Tour and lunch at the Central Virginia Foodbank in Richmond has been cancelled due to lack of interest. The Norfolk foodbank visitors will take an informative tour of the facilities and have a box lunch ($12 per person).
Both groups will drive off on respective fun runs, timed to meet up at the James River Ferry in Isle of Wight County. We have coordinated to get all our Porsches on the same ferry. Once across the river, we will drive to The Williamsburg - Hotel and Conference Center for the evening’s events.
Rooms will be available at the hotel at the special FSR rate of $119 plus tax per night. Reservations can be made by calling 757-220-2500. This rate is available for both Friday and Saturday by identifying yourself as a First Settlers Region Porsche Club member. If you choose not to spend the night, we will have a hospitality suite for folks to relax, shower, and change clothes before dinner. Munchies and beverages/cocktails will be provided in the hospitality suite.
At 6PM, we’ll begin our evening program which will include cocktail hour followed by dinner and a silent Auction to raise money for our charities. The cost of dinner is $42 per person.
Remember, this is Williamsburg with great shopping and many historic sites, so plan to make it a full weekend!
The Mission of Wounded Wear: Wounded Wear was created to provide clothing and clothing modifications to America's wounded warriors; to promote awareness throughout the country of the sacrifices wounded service members and their families have made in the name of freedom; and to foster a sense of pride, camaraderie, determination and strength of purpose amongst them.
