Looking for an unforgettable journey of the best California countryside? Join the San Diego Region of the Porsche Club of America as we take a week long tour of the best wine country in America: Sonoma and Napa counties. As we are the Porsche Club, I know we don't drive just to get somewhere; but rather to enjoy the journey and as such minimal driving time is not the goal. With this in mind we will not focus on interstates, but rather will caravan through some of the most beautiful roads in the state as we travel to and from wine country, followed by terrific driving tours (and other adventures of all kinds) during our stay in wine country.

The tour will begin on Saturday, October 27, 2018.  We will tour per the schedule below to finish on Sunday, November 4, 2018.  Lodging for all 8 nights is included and as well as four group dinners and three group lunches.  For the other meals, there will be numerous opportunities for breakfast, lunch, and dinner spots each day. Go by yourselves or join together with friends old and new. The choice is up to you. Some of the best dining in the country will be in the area, numerous fantastic options, both known and unknown. Take your pick based on your preference and your budget. We have worked hard to charge just enough to cover the costs of the hotels and included meals (most meals are during the travel days, there and back) while still providing you with time to explore new discoveries or visit old favorites.

For those that attended this event in 2017, we will be driving on new roads whenever possible, just to keep it interesting!

Here's how the week will flow:

Day 1/Saturday: Journey to the Mountains Today is a travel day.  We will meet at Hoehn Porsche in Carlsbad, CA. Once everyone has arrived, we will have a quick driver's meeting and then we will be on our way north. Once we get through LA and over the Grapevine, we will stop for our first group meal, lunch.  We will then continue north to the amazing scenic mountains outside Yosemite, where we will spend the night in a fabulous hotel and have an fantastic group dinner. This will be a night to remember!

Day 2/Sunday: Journey to Napa.  This morning we continue driving north on scenic roads along the base of the mountains. We will have another group lunch at a terrific little restaurant before we turn west to Napa and some more scenic byways.  We will have three nights in Napa.

Day 3-5/Monday-Wednesday: Discover Napa. Sunday night we will check into our hotel in the city of Napa for the next three nights. This gives you 2-3 days in the Napa valley, the most famous and arguably the best wine country in all of the USA.  The Carneros wine appellation is also right next door, and the delightful town of Sonoma isn't too far either. World class restaurants, world famous vineyards and amazing views await you here!  Every day there will be an optional driving tour in the morning (this is a Porsche Club adventure, after all). Come along with the gang or skip it to sleep in or go to the spa.  Whether you choose to explore the local roads or not, afternoons will be free for wine tasting or whatever interests you! One day there will be an optional organized wine tour for those interested in group activities. Tuesday will have another group dinner where we can catch up on our adventures.  There are two free nights (Sunday & Monday) to explore dinner destinations on your own.

Day 5-7/Wednesday-Saturday: Santa Rosa Siesta. We will spend 2-3 days in the Santa Rosa area.  The big city of the area, it is central to the following terrific wine appellations:  Sonoma Valley, Alexander Valley, Russian River Valley, Dry Creek Valley, Knights Valley and Anderson Valley. If you can't find a wine you like here, then they just don't make it.  In addition to wine, you will find Redwoods forest -- terrific for hiking or catching a zip line tour; phenomenal Pacific coastline parks, small towns to explore, and terrific restaurants too.  Thursday night will be our second group dinner, where we can again come together to exchange stories of all our discoveries. There is another optional organized wine tour here as well.  We will continue with optional driving tours each morning, followed by free afternoons.   Two free nights (Wednesday & Friday) will be there to explore the Sonoma dining scene on your own.

Day  8/Saturday: The Journey home begins. All good things must come to an end, but that doesn't mean the fun has to stop!  Today we head south by beautiful and famous Hwy 1 (assuming the highway gods have blessed us and the repairs are completed and the road is reopened-it is supposed to be!).   Our group lunch will be a picnic in a park overlooking the ocean, halfway back to Cambria; where we will have our final group dinner and spend the last night of the trip.

Day 9/Sunday: Destination-San Diego. Leave Cambria for the final leg of the journey home at your leisure. Sleep in or depart at dawn; by yourself or with a group; the choice is up to you. You could even stay on a few days for some time in the Central Coast wine country!

For those of you interested in the most famous of the restaurants in the area (such as The French Laundry), don't forget to make your reservations far in advance. These famous places are always popular so expect them to be busy.  Our free nights are:  Sunday & Monday, Oct 28 & 29 in Napa, Wednesday & Friday, Oct 31 & Nov 2 in Sonoma.  And, of course, lunch all five weekdays, Oct 29-Nov 2, are free for you to plan on your own as well. (Sometimes lunch at the famous restaurants is easier to arrange than dinner-but that does cut into your wine tasting time.)

The cost of the Week is $2899 per couple. (Single drivers~please contact me.) Price includes 8 nights of lodging, three group lunches, and four group dinners, and an unforgettable experience!  We have limited space available, please register NOW by clicking on this link: http://msreg.com/2018WineTour

$500 non-refundable deposit is due immediately to secure your spot.  Balance of registration fee is due on or before 8/1/2018.  Registration fee is non-refundable due to hotel reservations booked in advanced and other planning purposes.  Should you need to cancel, you can transfer your tickets to someone else who is willing to take your place.  (This event will have a waitlist.)
