The 16thANNUAL JUDY BRUNNER MEMORIAL SLALOM:

The St. Lawrence Auto Club is pleased to present the second round of the 2014 Ontario Regional Auto Slalom Championship at the Picton Air Field on Sunday the 1st of June.

This will be the 16th consecutive year that this Regional Status event is being held by St. LAC in honour of Judy who was one of the icons of the club.

The intent is to keep Judy's name alive in the Solo II community, as she was a significant and very respected participant in the late 60's, 70's, and early 80's in a 1966 MK I Lotus Cortina. Judy very ably demonstrated that women could be just as competitive as men in slaloms and was a major encouragement to other ladies to get involved.

Judy achieved the following Slalom/Solo II awards:

  •  St. LAC Club Over-all Champion
  •  CASC-OR Ladies Over-all Champion
  •  CASC-OR Men's Class Champion
  •  CASC-National Ladies Over-all Champion
  •  CASC-National Men's Class Champion
  •  SCCA-Central New York Region (Syracuse) Men's Class Champion
  •  SCCA-North East Divisional Ladies Class Champion

Due to a job transfer to the Toronto area, Solo activities were curtailed in the mid-80's but plans were in place to renew competition upon return to Kingston. While in Toronto, Judy, who had been an accomplished amateur actress and dancer in Kingston, began a professional acting career and appeared in numerous TV shows, Movies, Still Advertisements and TV commercials.

Unfortunately, she began experiencing severe lung problems (pulmonary fibrosis) and passed away while waiting for a Lung Transplant in March of 1998 at the age of 57.

Besides enjoying the event today, we encourage you to be aware of the Organ Donor Program and consider participating so that in the unfortunate situation that something happens to you, you could save other lives.

Club members will be setting up the course on Friday night and the club will have Security overnight on both Friday and Saturday so competition cars and rigs can be left at the airfield. Unfortunately, camping on site is not allowed by local by-laws.

Portable toilets (with water) will be on site.

As per last year, Registration will be in the Flying Club building located at the westerly end of the Air Field.  Entry Fee payments will be collected by St. LAC at the same time. After Registration and Payment, you can drive through the nearby gate to the Paddock area which will be in front of the hangers.  Start and Finish will be at the westerly end of the converging active air strips.  Line-up Grid will be along the road to the Start area.

Event Schedule:

  • 0800: Registration begins
  • 0930: Drivers’ Meeting and closing of Registration
  • 10:00 First Car on Course

St. LAC Organizer for the event will be Eric Brunner
