CRSCCA Autocross # 6

Dade County High School

About this event

Have you always wanted to know what it’s like to put the pedal to the metal in your car in a safe environment, at an event sponsored by experienced racers?

Here’s your chance!

The Chattanooga Region of the Sports Car Club of America is sponsoring an Autocross Open House on Sept. 30. It’s an opportunity to drive a car at speed, or ride along as a passenger, on a track marked by traffic cones in a safe parking lot.

It’s one car at a time, so it’s very safe. In fact, we have safety stewards who are responsible for making sure everyone -- drivers, workers and spectators -- stays safe.

It’s a great way to be introduced to the safest form of motorsports and to meet lots of friendly people who like to go fast. We have loaner helmets available, and we’ll provide one FREE ride to everyone who wants to sample the experience.

We’ll even have free hotdogs and cold drinks for everyone. All we ask is that you sign a waiver form and wear a wristband to indicate that you’re signed in.

If you want to participate as a novice, you can pretty much drive any car or truck (no vans, sorry) and we’ll provide free instruction to first-timers. The fee for that is $35 plus $15 for the SCCA. You can register at the high school on the day of the event.

The SCCA is the oldest motorsports organization in America, founded in 1944. It has thousands of members in 116 regions across the country. The Chattanooga region sponsors an autocross championship season every year. The web site is www.crscca.org.

Media coverage ahead of and at this event is welcome. Events run rain or shine.
