Car Control Clinic - February 22, 2014

Candlestick Park

About this event

Before registering, please read the entire Car Control Clinic Overview for important information and required forms for the day of the event. Please also see the FAQs.

Imagine knowing what to do when your car begins to slide, or being in control during that panic stop. Even if you think you know what you are doing, come out and explore the limits of you and your car in a controlled setting. Car control skills are learned techniques that are fundamental to performance driving, and can enhance your ability to be a safer driver in normal everyday situations.

All you need to attend is a membership in the BMW Club, a valid driver's license, and the registration fee which includes lunch. (You will also need to complete a Minor Waiver if you are under 18)  Two-driver cars are allowed (two separately registered drivers sharing one car).

Helmets are not required for the clinic. If you wish to wear a helmet, it must meet the club’s helmet standards and must be inspected at check-in.

The February 22, 2014 Car Control Clinic will be held at Candlestick Park in San Francisco, CA (Directions to Candlestick Park). Check-in for registered students opens at 8:00am. The event concludes at 5:30pm. The cost is $135 for BMW Club members and $183 for non-club members, which includes a one year membership in the BMW Club. You must be a member of the BMW Car Club of America to participate. You do not have to own a BMW to join the BMW Club or to participate in our driving events.
Our Clinics are open to all club members wanting to learn more about enhancing their driver skills and understanding the capabilities of their cars. If you have been thinking about or planning to attend a track school, clinics are a prerequisite for first time track school students. We explore the many situations of vehicle dynamics in a controlled environment, with you in the driver’s seat. The program is structured for people without any formal performance driving experience. Our goal is to prepare you with a fundamental foundation of skills from which you can further develop your driving abilities. Each participant receives personalized instruction provided by experienced club Instructors. The level of instruction is tailored to fit the need of each individual student.

Event requirements

Because space is limited, registration must be made in advance by filling out and submitting an on-line application. Each driver must register separately in their own name and have their own Motorsportreg.com account. Registration includes lunch. Only on-line credit card payment or electronic check will be accepted. You may not register at the event. The roster will be filled on a first come, first served basis.

If you are already a member of the BMW Car Club please remember to include your Membership Number in your registration. This information is required or your registration may be canceled. If you are not a BMW Club member you may purchase your membership with your registration (you do not have to own a BMW to join the BMW Club).

If you are enrolled in a scheduled BMW CCA track school, and need to take this clinic as a prerequisite, you will not be automatically placed on the clinic roster. You must register and pay separately for this clinic.

We do not allow SUVs at the clinic due to their high center of gravity (with the exceptions that BMW X models and Porsche Cayenne SAVs only are allowed). We also highly discourage the use of the Toyota Prius at the Clinic becuase of the very intrusive statibility control that is unable to be turned off; it is difficult to teach car control if the car won't lose traction in a controlled environment.  Convertibles are allowed at the clinic.  If there is a question about the appropriateness of your vehicle, please contact us at carcontrol@ggcbmwcca.org.

Before registering, please read the entire Car Control Clinic Overview for important information and required forms for the day of the event.  Please also see the FAQs.

Each participant must have their own motorsportreg.com account and register under their own name. Registering for someone else will result in the registration being cancelled.
