CANCELED -- RallyCross - Novice School & Points #1

Wilson County Fairgrounds

About this event

THSCC

Information

THSCC will host our first RallyCross Novice School and our first points event of 2015 at Wilson County Fairgrounds! If you are interested in rallycross, motorsports in general, or you just want to test the limits of your car (or a buddy's car) come on out for two full days of rallycross with Tarheel Sports Car Club.

Please note that preregistration is mandatory for our novice school event to give enough time for instructor/student pairings; late registration is NOT available for Saturday's event.

Working the course during the school and event is expected of all participants. The school will likely be divided into 3 groups with one working while 2 drive in rotation. The timed event will require that all drivers work when not driving in their heat. Due to the large area and limited attendance all hands are needed to keep the event operating smoothly; there's plenty of time for rest when it's all over.

By the way, Parker's BBQ is just across the road and has some of the best BBQ in the area. Ask about the take-out window around back. Other fast food is available locally, or pack a lunch. We usually break for 1 hour mid-day.

Check out some videos of previous events to get an idea what this event will be all about (designed without "jumps" now):

Event requirements

THSCC

Your car should be teched BEFORE the drivers meeting. To pass tech, you must:

  • Clean out any loose items in the car, this includes cell phones cables, garage door openers, loose change and such.
  • The battery has to be properly secured (OEM or better).
  • If your floor mats are not physically attached to carpet, they will have to be removed. We don’t want the floor mat to bunch up under the brake or gas.
  • Hubcaps and center caps on wheels should be removed. If your hubcaps mount to the wheel and are held in place by the lug nuts, then they can stay on, otherwise they should be removed.
  • Have a SNELL approved helmet, 2000 or newer (M-rated or SA-rated). We do not accept DOT-only approved helmets any longer. We have a limited number of loaner helmets.

It is your responsibility to:

  • Check basic fluids such as oil, coolant, and brake.
  • Make sure you torque the lug nuts to manufacturer's recommended tightness.
  • Make sure you have no active leaks on the motor, transmission or diff. Oil on the track is a bad thing.
  • Check tire pressure. If you don’t know what to set it to, ask ASAP. (Generally street tires should have the maximum rated pressure listed on the sidewall - it's easier to let it out than inflate it. If in doubt ask an experienced driver.)
  • You WILL experience greater than normal tire wear. Your tires MUST be serviceable, meaning they have appropriate tread, no chords showing, etc.

In addition, TO ANYONE ATTENDING THEIR FIRST RALLYCROSS:

  • In regards to displaying your class and numbers, please keep in mind that you should use tape or printed letters and numbers that contrast to your car's color, i.e. no blue tape on blue cars.
