Bimmer World CCA Club Race School at Canadian Tire

Canadian Tire Motorsport Park DDT

About this event

If you're considering advancing to the ranks of BMW Club Racing or CASC Racing, or want to be exposed to new concepts and on-track experiences, then this event is for you. This school is open to all drivers experienced with high performance driving on the track.

The weekend consists of an intensive program of in-class sessions and on-track exercises. There will be four classroom sessions and four track sessions each day. The classes cover such topics as the rules, race craft, mental preparation, practice and qualifying techniques, surviving the start, etc. On-track sessions consist of a variety of exercises, including two or three-abreast driving, leap-frog passing, and practice starts, culminating in a mock race in the last session on Sunday (optional). There will be no instructors in the student cars, though there will be instructors present on the track and in the classroom observing your behaviour and skill and participating in the discussions in the class.

After successfully completing this school you will have satisfied the educational requirement for applying for a BMWCCA Club Race license. This school can also qualify you to apply for a CASC-OR regional race license.

The cost to students attending the two-day school is $649 +HST (total $733.37). All candidates must submit their driving resume prior to being accepted into the school.

In addition, Solo Lapping on Friday, April 27, is available to race school attendees. Registration for lapping is separate from the race school registration. See the Trillium web site for more information (https://www.trilliumbmwclub.ca).

Event requirements

Instructors and signed off advanced students of the BMW Club high performance driver education program are welcome, as well as participants with equivalent experience from other recognized organizations. This school only accepts those who have significant solo student and/or lapping experience. You will not be taught how to drive on a track at this school. We assume you already have these skills. You must have previously attained a level equivalent to a signed-off advanced student in a BMW club high performance driving school program.

Any car suitable for use in a BMW Club driving school may be used, all the way up to fully prepared race cars. Participants do not need race prepared cars, nor do cars need to be BMW's. Note that helmets must be either Snell SA2010 or Snell SA2015.

Before registering for the event, or you will be accepted, you must submit your driving resume to the chief instructor - Louis Payant (email@louispayant.com). Your resume should detail:

  • Your car make, year, any modifications, etc
  • How many track days you have run in total and over how many years
  • Tracks you have experience with
  • Driving schools taken, when and at what track venues
  • Any one-on-one coaching you have received, and if so with whom, where and how many days
  • Your current driver proficiency level (novice, intermediate, advanced)
  • Organizations you have run with
  • Type of events have you run at (driving schools, club days, open lapping, Race Schools, Time Attack, etc)
  • Run group you currently drive in at track events
  • If you have been signed off to drive solo, how long ago and how many track days you have driven solo
  • Any references can you offer (Chief Instructor's name, other Instructor names and organization names)
