Bertil Roos Pocono Region PDC

Pocono Raceway

About this event

A Bertil Roos Performance Driving Clinic Geared For Motorsports Club Members!

This specialized version of the common Bertil Roos PDC is designed for Pocono Region drivers whom belong to motorsports driving clubs. Pocono resident, Len Goldspinner, worked with the Bertil Roos Racing School, with an idea to formulate a program with extensive training specifically for drivers of clubs looking to find a different source of instruction. This PDC is geared with one goal in mind: Train club drivers in a way that they don't normally find in their home driving clubs.

A High Speed Schedule Oriented For The Most Training And Track Time!

After morning registration, all cars will be given a tech inspection by the mechanics of the Bertil Roos Racing School. While this is occurring, all event drivers will be assigned to one of three driver classes based on either their prior experience, or personally perceived ability level. Each driver class will receive the appropriate classroom instruction and type of lapping based on their ability level.

Immediately following tech inspection and driver class assignment, drivers will immediately dive into either classroom training or on track training based on driver class. Novice and Intermediate class drivers will start the day with an appropriate amount of in depth classroom instruction, and on track training within the Bertil Roos Racing School's street cars. Solo drivers will be given a detailed preview of the track they will be lapping on, including a good look at brake points and hazardous track edge drop offs, so that dangerous situations and car damage can be avoided as much as possible.

There will be no lack of track time, as the entirety of the day following classroom and on track training will consist of lapping sessions. Novice and Intermediate drivers will be required to have a Bertil Roos instructor ride shotgun with them for accurate evaluation of driving skills and habits, as well as, immediate feedback. Solo drivers will be able to take to the track on their own terms throughout the sessions, but will always have the option of having an instructor ride with them for extensive evaluation and training. During every lapping session, of all driver classes, any instructors not riding with students will be posted at different track locations for a good view and ability for feedback.

Between sessions, drivers of all classes will have adequate time to conduct appropriate car maintenance and receive rest and hydration. All drivers will also be able to converse with Bertil Roos instructors to be able to talk about driving lines and techniques after their adrenaline rush has calmed down. Accommodations for lunch will be announced closer to the event date, pending driver and staff input, as well as, venue availability.

For any questions regarding this event or experience groups, feel free to contact the Bertil Roos Racing School.

Event requirements

Drivers will be required to wear close-toed shoes, long pants, and a long-sleeve shirt. Boots are not recommended.

Helmets will be loaned to drivers who do not have their own at no extra charge. Students may bring their own helmets, but they must first be approved by one of our instructors before they can use them. Motorcycle helmets with an "M" rating are not permitted. Only helmets with a SNELL "SA" rating will be permitted for use.

Any driver using a car with a soft-top (convertible)  in the program must ensure that there are no problems with the roof locks, so that roofs do not come loose during the event. Only cars with roll bars will be permitted to keep their top down while lapping.

Drivers must ensure that the front windows operate in cars being used in the event. Students will be asked to keep their front windows rolled all the way down during lapping.

Any tools or equipment unique to a specific vehicle must be brought to the event. These include lug nut keys and hubcap removal tools, as well as any other tools necessary to conduct a simple tech inspection. Students are recommended to locate these tools prior to the event and make them easily accessible for the tech inspection in order to make the inspection process move quicker.

We recommend that all drivers review the important information packet and track map prior to attending the program. This allows for a better understanding and reference throughout the program.
