About this event
The Arctic Alaska Region, of the Sports Car Club of America, will be sanctioning our final event weekend of the 2019 Autocross season on September 14th and 15th, 2019. We are eager to share the motorsport of autocross with our fellow Alaskans. This is a driving competition through a course laid out with pylons (traffic cones) giving each entrant as many runs each day that we can fit in, for their best scored time!
Schedule for Saturday/Sunday Morning
7:00AM - Regional Autocross Support Team Arrival
8:00-9:00AM - Onsite Registration Open
8:00AM - Course Open to Walk
8:00AM - Tech Inspection Opens
9:30AM - Safety Steward Meeting with Drivers
10:00AM - First Car On Course
All competitors will need to come by the Registration Table upon arrival — both those who registered online and those who choose to register at the event either morning.
Note that Registration is only open for one hour the morning of the event. You will then head to Tech for your vehicle inspection.
Please arrive early to allow time to settle your gear, prepare your car, and get through Tech Inspection before the Walk-Thru. Remember, all loose items will need to be out of your car and your battery will need to be solidly secured—no bungee cords!
Our Driver's Meeting will include a brief talk by the Safety Steward and the Solo Team will cover the responsibilities each of you will have while working corners during your "work group"! This event is a go—rain or shine—and as you'll be working opposite your "run group" please bring hats, layers for body warmth, sunblock, and foot wear for the elements.
Water will be provided by the Region.
Don't forget your valid Driver's License!
REGISTRATION and ENTRY FEES
All competitors are encouraged to pre-register (versus "event morning" registration) at the official online registration site: www.alaskascca.motorsportreg.com before the event. This makes things much easier for our volunteers!
Entry fees for the Weekend Autocross will be $40 for Saturday only, $40 for Sunday only or $75 for the whole weekend for SCCA Members. If you aren't already an SCCA member, you must add an SCCA Weekend Membership for $15 more. A Weekend Membership fee makes you an SCCA Weekend Member and will give you a $15 discount towards a full SCCA membership, a copy of SportsCar (our national magazine), and is valid for all SCCA-sanctioned events held during that weekend.
If you choose to become a Full Annual Member of the SCCA, your single day entry fee of $40 will be waived. This is an incredible deal!!
DRIVERS LICENSES, MINOR WAIVERS and HELMETS
Drivers License: Competitors must present a valid driver’s license and sign the Event Waiver.
Minor Waivers: If under 18-years-of-age, competitors will need a Minor Waiver signed by their parents (or legal guardians) and presented prior to competition. The SCCA Minor Waiver Form can be downloaded at www.scca.com/downloads. There will also be forms at the event, but remember that both parents must be present to sign the waiver.
Helmets: Competitors must have helmets on during competition. All helmets meeting the latest or two immediately preceding Snell Foundation standards (SA2015, SA2010, SAH2010, SA2005, SA2000, M2015, M2010, M2005, M2000, K2010, K2005, K98) SFI standards 31.1, 41.1,31.1A, 31.2A, 41.1A, 41.2A or British spec BS6658-85 type A/FR are acceptable.
The Region will have limited sizes and quantities of “loaner helmets” at the event.
CLASSES, CAR PREPARATION AND MODIFICATIONS
The Region utilizes the 2019 SCCA National Solo Rules classifications.
For 2019, the Region will have four Classes: Novice for those new to the sport, Ladies for our Female competitors we offer this National Class for those who don't wish to run one of the other classes, Open is our intermediate class for those Region competitors looking for fun with some competition, and Expert which is the "Deep End Of The Pool," with very stiff competition. All of these classes are better explained in the 2019 Autocross Supplemental Rules and can be found on the Region Website at www.alaskascca.org.
Each competitor will be required to present their vehicle ready for inspection to the Tech Inspection Team immediately following Registration. Vehicles shall have mufflers, working seatbelts, and NO leaking fluids, in addition to the other items on the Tech Sheet.
This year the Region will be enforcing a sound limit rule to ensure that we are able to continue to enjoy our sport. The details are outlined in Appendix I of the 2019 National Rules. Bottom line is sound level readings will be taken at a location on the edge of the courses and competitors who exceed the maximum sound level will be given the opportunity to make repairs to meet the acceptable sound level. If on subsequent runs the competitor does not meet the acceptable level, they will not be allowed to continue to compete.
