ACNW Verloren Gehen '16

Oregon Raceway Park

About this event

Join Audi Club Northwest at Oregon Raceway Park (ORP) on April 9th and 10th for Verloren Gehen 2016!

The name Verloren Gehen means "get lost," which is an important part of the challenge at ORP. The track is a very challenging and technically interesting 2.3 mile road course in Grass Valley, Oregon.  It has significant elevation change of 140ft, and completely blind corners to learn and practice. <http://www.oregonraceway.com/index.php>

For just the fourth time with ACNW, this is now a two-day event!  This is also the second year that, if weather and resources permit, we will run the track clockwise and counter-clockwise. It's like running a new track each day.  We have packages in MotorsportReg for both days, or for individual days on Saturday or Sunday (single day solo or instructed lapping). The two-day package is $375 or you can purchase one day (Saturday or Sunday) for $265.  Plenty of track time and a nicely served lunch is included both days.

Objectives for Verloren Gehen are to practice and refine the experience you gained from attending previous track events with Audi Club Northwest or other car club events, so we do have some instructor support available. To qualify for Verloren Gehen, drivers must have previously attended a Driver Skills Clinic and at least one instructed-lapping day at one of the region’s tracks, subject to Event Master approval.  This is a lapping event; there are no driver skill exercises at ORP.  You will be asked to select your skill level as part of the registration process online.

To help you get excited about this fresh track experience, a good familiarization video was put together by ProFormance Racing School that reviews the track and each of its corners. <http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PxUdfsZtRzc>

All participants must be at least 18 years of age.

ACNA membership is required for this event.  Drivers who are not yet members, or who need to renew an existing membership, may handle that using the Audi Club North America website <http://www.audiclubna.org/membership>.

Registration pricing includes lunch. Guest lunches are available for $15. Note: When meals are a part of our events, ACNW will attempt to accommodate special dietary requirements if requested. However, meals are provided by third parties and circumstances may not always enable ACNW or its vendors to meet every special dietary need.

Our event hotel will be the Quality Inn and Suites in Goldendale, WA. We have a room block with a variety of rooms. To book a room call the hotel at (509-773-5881) and let them know you are with Audi Club Northwest. <http://www.qualityinn.com/hotel-goldendale-washington-WA178> Another lodging option is camping. Camping is permitted at the ORP parking area for Friday and/or Saturday night provided they have a list of people beforehand.  Contact Tripp if you are interested in camping overnight at the track.

Thank you and welcome to what will be a wonderfully challenging experience.

Please email Tripp Serenbetz <warren.serenbetz@gmail.com>, event master, with any questions.

Event requirements

Drivers must have previously attended a Driver Skills Clinic and at least one instructed-lapping day at one of the region’s tracks to qualify for Verloren Gehen.  Instructors will be available for a few people who request coaching, and for those who are not signed off to Intermediate (solo).  Please indicate the signoff in your Log Book for driver skill level when that question appears in the registration process.

Everyone must sign the Release and Waiver for Audi Club Northwest’s insurance coverage when coming onto the facility.  This requirement includes drivers, instructors, teens, guests and visitors.  The full text of this Release and Waiver is on the next screens.  Please read it carefully.  Please contact the Event Masters or Registrar prior to the event with any questions.

Convertibles and roadsters are not permitted to run high speed driver training or lapping events unless equipped with an approved aftermarket 4-point roll bar or rollcage in the car, and 4-point ASM(anti submarining), 5-point or 6-point harnesses. Equal restraints must be provided for both the passenger and the driver.  For example, harnesses with 4, 5, or 6 point mounts used by the driver, must also be provided for the front seat passenger.  The roll bar must pass the “broomstick rule” such that a broomstick from the top of the windshield to the top of the roll bar is over the head of the driver. The TT convertible, A4 Cabriolet and S4 Cabriolet will not qualify for tech inspection without an aftermarket roll bar.  The Audi Club North America policy is posted on the Audi Club North America website under Event Rules for your review <http://www.audiclubna.org/images/forms/ACNA_Driving_School_Guidelines_2013-03-05.pdf>.

Sport Utility Vehicles (SUVs) are not permitted.

Our Helmet Requirement for this event is for Snell 2005 or later. The SA (Special Application-Automotive), M (Motorcycle) and K (Karting) designators are approved until 2016. We have 28 club helmets in various sizes available for rent ($25) on a first come, first serve basis.  If you still need a helmet but they are all rented out at the time of your registration, please make a note in the registration comments that you need one.  We cannot guarantee that one will become available however.  You will not be allowed to participate without a helmet.
