ACNW University of Quattro '14

Evergreen Speedway

About this event

University of Quattro has sold out for 2014!  We suspended resgistrations so people don't become frustrated or confused by the Waitlist status that results.  Instructors signing up to help work the event, please email John Ewald, <john.ewald@mac.com>.

The next scheduled event with a Driver Skills Clinic in the program is Matt Ammon Memorial Driving School in Bremerton on May 17th, which is also sponsored this year by University Audi.  Put it on your calendar!

Audi Club Northwest presents "University of Quattro" Driver Education at the Monroe Fairgrounds/Evergreen Speedway on Sunday, February 9, 2013!

Registration and Tech inspection of the cars begins at 8:00am, with activities for each group getting underway at 8:30am.

Do you have a new car and want to learn what driving it feels like in challenging course design?  Or have you ever really learned how to drive the one you have?

University of Quattro is a place to push the envelope of your vehicle’s capabilities in a controlled environment with fantastic club instructors to work with you on becoming a better driver.  This program has something for 16 year old drivers just starting their road experience, or the 50 year old that has always wondered if they really do know everything there is to know about driving.

Audi Club Northwest is here to provide training for the most important aspect of your car making it home safely every night, YOU.  The University of Quattro program also qualifies you to attend other instructed lapping events later this year, such as Son of Quattrofest on March 23rd.

Sunday morning starts with our Driver’s Education (DE) program which consists of a short chalk talk session where we discuss vehicle dynamics and how you can maximize your skills and minimize the chances of being involved in an accident.  This talk is an important part of becoming a more polished driver.

After the chalk talk we transition to the large paved surface at the Evergreen State Fairgrounds where Audi Club Northwest instructors will put you through a group of exercises designed to teach new skills and expand on old ones in a controlled but exhilarating way.  This is great fun.

Once our instructors feel you have learned what is needed in the exercises we will transition the pavement into an autocross.  An autocross is a small course designed to test your new skills, and since it is timed you will be able to see your improvement as an instructor works with you on the strategies to better your next run through the course.  This is where the fun REALLY begins.  Expect to go home with sore cheeks as your smiling muscles will be the most tested of all.

Learning to be better drivers is what Audi Club Northwest is all about. For information about what our driving schools look like please go to <http://www.archive.audiclubna.org/about-acna-topmenu-33/acna-driving-schools-topmenu-62>. This link gives you a good overview of the exercises and activities that Audi Club North America driving schools contain.

Teen drivers are encouraged to take this course and Audi Club Northwest is offering a $25 discount   Parents can take the course too and have the same experiences and language to use in later conversations. You may share one car, but parent and teen must register as separate participants. This will be an all-day class and it will be the best focused time each of you has ever spent on driving skills. That's $175 total for teen and parent for the full day of instruction, practice, lunch together, and huge fun too.  A parent or guardian needs to be onsite during the day with drivers under 18 years old.

The program is focused on driver skill development and learning about how you and your car work together for a safer experience on the streets and freeways. A coach will be with you in the right seat of your car to personalize the whole event.

Adult drivers and teen drivers may choose from the following event options:
• Driver Education and Autocross with lunch, Adult.  $100.
• Driver Education and Autocross with lunch, Teen $75

Your registration includes lunch. Guest lunches are available for $15.

An Audi car is not required for any portion of University of Quattro so feel free to invite friends and co-workers to this event. Audi Club North America membership is not required (although it is encouraged) for either the Driver’s Education exercises or autocross.

Convertibles and Roadsters may run in Saturday's DE exercises and the autocross. Please see Event Requirements in the next screens for further details. Sport Utility Vehicles (SUVs, SAVs), trucks and other high-center vehicles are not permitted. Contact event master Kip Rumens (<k.rumens@mntforest.com>) or registrar John Ewald (<john.ewald@mac.com>) for clarification if you are unsure about whether your vehicle qualifies for the event at Monroe.

It is okay to bring friends with you to spectate or participate. You may be able to arrange rides for them with designated instructors during the lunch break to experience first-hand what a Driver’s Education day is all about.  This is also an opportunity to just come out to an Audi Club Northwest event; meet some of the people involved, watch what is going on, and talk to us.  You are welcome to spectate.  Everyone who enters the facility must sign the waiver to be made part of the club insurance.

Helmets are NOT required for the DE Exercises nor the DE Autocross in the afternoon.

Note: When meals are a part of our events, ACNW will attempt to accommodate special dietary requirements if requested. However, meals are provided by third parties and circumstances may not always enable ACNW or its vendors to meet every special dietary need.

Go to Audi Club NW for forms and information: http://www.audiclubnw.org

Event requirements

Everyone must sign the Release and Waiver for Audi Club Northwest’s insurance coverage when coming onto the facility.  This requirement includes drivers, instructors, teens, guests and visitors.  The full text of this Release and Waiver is on the next screens.  Please read it carefully.  Parents or guardians must also sign a Teen Waiver on behalf of participating teens.  Please contact the Event Masters or Registrar prior to the event with any questions about these important documents.

The event will start at 8:00 am and participants will need to be present by then to get critical information about the rest of the day.  The event will run until dark or 5:00, whichever comes first.  A full event schedule will be sent out prior to the event that will outline some of the basic schedule of the day.

This event will qualify the driver for additional ACNW events, such as Son of Quattrofest at The Ridge in March.

Convertibles may participate in this Driver Skills Clinic and Autocross.  High-center-of-gravity vehicles are not permitted.  These include trucks, sport utility vehicles (SUVs), sport activity vehicles (SAVs), and crossover utility vehicles (CUVs).  Email the event master if you have questions on this. <k.rumens@mntforest.com>

It is the entrant's responsibility for preparing and bringing a vehicle meeting the very minimal technical requirements. If your car fails morning tech at the track and cannot be fixed, you will not be able to run and you will not get a refund.

No refunds will be issued due to halting an event for any reason - rain, incident, etc.

If you must cancel, please do so early so that we may allow another participant into your space. Any refunds due under the cancellation policy will be issued as soon as practical after the event.
