Audi Club Northwest welcomes you to Portland International Raceway (PIR) for Quattrofest 2020!
Quattrofest is more than simply a driver's skills or track day; it's an event where new memories are born and friendships are developed that will stay with you forever. Those that have attended in years past know that something special always happens. Something so special that they tell friends and family and other attendees for years to come. Quattrofest is about becoming a better driver, but that's not always the most impactful part of the event. Spending time with and meeting others who share the same passion for cars, or a love of gardening (as discovered over dinner and drinks at the banquet on Saturday evening) or perhaps chasing white balls around grassy courses, both at the track and at the banquet, is really what separates Quattrofest from any other track weekend! All too often we find ourselves living a life online, from Zoom calls to social media to YouTube; this is a time to get out, make connections in real life and experience new things that simply aren't available anywhere else.
Quattrofest offers two basic options, based on your experience and interest. You can either attend the high-speed on-track lapping portion of our event where you drive your car on Portland International Raceway or you can sign up for our driver's skills program where you'll run through a series of exercises where you'll begin to understand the limits of your vehicle and how to use those dynamics to drive safer. There is even an package to do both. Oh, and along the way you're all but guaranteed to have a smile on your face throughout.
2-DAY FULL EVENT PACKAGES:
• Saturday: Driver Skills AM + Autocross PM / Sunday: HPDE Lapping all day. Includes lunch Saturday and Sunday, Saturday Banquet and a commemorative shirt
• Saturday + Sunday: HPDE Lapping all day. For drivers who've completed a Driver Skills Clinic or equivalent. Includes lunch Saturday and Sunday, Saturday Banquet and a commemorative shirt
Almost all cars and crossover vehicles are eligible to attend Driver Skills (DS) and we encourage teens and other drivers who might be a little timid around the limits of their vehicle to attend DS and gain confidence and the skills to drive more safely on the streets and highways. Those attending the DS will be challenged with an autocross course in the afternoon to apply the skills learned in the morning and continue the process of learning dynamics of your vehicle, in a safe and fun venue. This is a fantastic event for parents to attend with teen children and families to share the experience with each other. Spouses who've attended driver's skills together always leave with new shared stories and experiences they can share for a lifetime.
Saturday night we come together at the Red Lion hotel for a banquet style meal, no-host bar and an auction (both silent and live). The venue and banquet are a perfect way to wrap up a day of new experiences, with new and old friends, reliving what happened during the day with an eye towards what's to come on Sunday! At the live auction, which follows dinner, you'll have an opportunity to bid on (and hopefully win) items spanning from automotive to wine to outdoor equipment.

While great food and drinks and auctions are a great way to spend an evening, perhaps the best aspect of the evening are the limitless opportunities to meet new people that you might not have crossed paths with otherwise. This year we are going to spread out a bit with the table layout but there should be plenty of opportunity to say hi to a new friend.
Sunday we return to the track. For those that were on-track on Saturday, it's a chance to work on perfecting your line around the very nuanced PIR. For those that attended Driver Skills on Saturday and want to get on-track, it's a chance to learn how to drive on a race track with one of the club's Instructors paired with you the whole day. Taking what you learned about your vehicle's dynamics and managing them on Saturday to the track on Sunday makes for quite an experience. PIR is truly a fantastic track for learning and skill building. The facility at the track also lends itself well to connecting with others in the paddock and the grandstands make it a great option for friends and family to enjoy the day as well. While you may think nothing is better than being at the race track all day, the easy access to the Max train station makes it easy for them to spend the afternoon in the city if they want to.

Event requirements

All participants must follow Portland International Raceway’s guidelines regarding COVID-19. This can be found here.
Release and Waiver of Liability:
Everyone must sign the Release and Waiver of Liability and Communicable Disease Spectator and Participant Release forms online for Audi Club Northwest’s insurance coverage prior to coming to the facility. You can initiate the process by answering "Yes" to the Speedwaiver question on the registration form, or you can start it by clicking here. The full text of this Release and Waiver of Liability is on the last page of the registration form, and can also be found on the ACNW's Driving School Materials page, under Adult Waiver.
In addition, you will need to sign a waiver from PIR as you enter the facility.
If you are participating in Driver Skills only (no HPDE)
- You do NOT need to be a member of Audi Club North America to participate
- You MUST be at least 16 years of age (or 15 with learner permit) to participate
- You do NOT need a helmet to participate in the Saturday Driver Skills
- Convertible cars and select High Center of Gravity Vehicles (see description below) ARE allowed
- A completed safety inspection form is NOT required
- You may skip to the "Morning of event" section below
If you are participating in HPDE
You need to be a member of Audi Club North America to drive on track at this event*. If you’ve not yet joined the club, you can get in the club by clicking here.
All participants and guests must be at least 16 years of age. To qualify for lapping, drivers must have previously attended a Driver Skills (DS) clinic with the Audi Club or other equivalent club/group (please check with the registrar with any questions).
*Reciprocal instructors from BMWCCA Puget Sound Chapter and PCA Pacific Northwest Region may instruct and drive without an ACNA membership
Convertibles:
Convertibles lacking rollover protection are not permitted in ACNA High Performance Driving Schools (HPDE, lapping, or any events held “at speed”). Vehicles with removable hardtops or retractable hardtops lacking a rollover protection system are also not permitted at high-speed events. Convertibles with factory-installed rollover protection (either fixed or deployable) meet the ACNA minimum requirement for high-speed events and are acceptable, subject to approval by chapter leadership and event staff. We strongly recommend driving with the soft-top up or the hard top installed; otherwise, SFI and/or FIA approved arm restraint system(s) must be used.
High Center of Gravity Vehicles:
High center of gravity vehicles (truck, van, SUV-Sport Utility Vehicle, CUV-Crossover Utility Vehicle, SAV-Sport Activity Vehicle) are not permitted in Audi Club Driving School events held “at speed” (DE-Driver Education, HPDE, instructed or non-instructed lapping, track days), except those models included in the ACNA Vehicle Participation Exception List found in the "ACNA 2019 Driving School & Event Guidelines" document. These exceptions include Audi Q3/Q5, BMW X1/X3/X5, Porsche Macan, Cayenne, for example.

Helmets:
Approved helmets are required to be worn when on track at this event. Approved helmets include only Snell SA2010, M2010, SA2015, EA2016 or later. Except for Snell M2010, the M (Motorcycle) and K (Karting) designators have lapsed.
Safety Inspection Policy:
For every event, ACNW requires two (2) signatures on your Vehicle Safety Inspection Checklist form. View this form here.
- The signature at the bottom is yours. It is your car and we need you to take responsibility for its safe condition and operation.
- It is ACNW’s expectation that your car will be inspected per the areas of emphasis on the Vehicle Safety Inspection Checklist form, by someone in addition to you. This should be a dealer, a local automotive shop, or any other person you believe has the technical knowledge and experience to thoroughly inspect your car for safety. Ultimately, it is your responsibility to confirm that your car is safe to operate at the event, and ACNW strongly encourages you to be honest about your own mechanical abilities/knowledge. Should you feel capable and confident in inspecting your own vehicle, it is permissible for the second “Inspected by” signature to be your own.

Completion of the Vehicle Safety Inspection Checklist form, including the second signature, should be completed PRIOR to the event. You will need to scan or photograph your completed form and email a copy to the registrar prior a week prior to the event. There will be no forms supplied at the facility.
Morning of event:
- After entering the facility proceed to the registration table to check in and get your car numbers/letters and wristband.
- Find a place to park in the paddock
- Ensure your vehicle meets all areas of the Vehicle Safety Inspection Checklist form, particularly removal of all lose items from the cabin and trunk.
- Apply the two larger event car numbers to car exterior on both sides (HPDE only); rear windows are recommended, if possible.
- Apply the smaller 4" event car number (or DS letter) sticker to the top center of the windshield.
- We no longer have a tech inspection line; instead, a brief inspection will happen while in pre-grid prior to your first session on track.
HPDE pre-grid, prior to first session on track:
- Drive your car to pre-grid, with car empty of loose items, helmet on, restraints fastened securely. Please arrive at the pre-grid 10 minutes prior to the start of your first on-track session.
- A volunteer will inspect you and your car to make sure that:
- Your car's tow hook(s) are installed (if available)
- You have equal restraints installed (i.e. both driver and passenger, if there is one, have the same type of harnesses or OEM 3-point seat belts), and that 4-point harnesses are of the anti-submarine (ASM) style
- You have a helmet on and buckled securely
- If you have a forward head and neck restraint (e.g. HANS, Simpson Hybrid, etc.), that it is positioned properly under the shoulder harnesses and connected to your helmet
- Your car is empty of loose items
- If you are driving a convertible, that it passes the broomstick rule for driver and passenger, and if you are running with the top down that you have approved arm restraints
- If everything checks out, you will receive an additional inspection sticker on your vehicle windshield; otherwise you will be required to leave the pre-grid area to fix the safety concern
