Waterford Hills

About this event

MTM logo      SCCA Detroit Region logo

Come join the Michigan Turn Marshals, Detroit Region SCCA, and Waterford Hills Road Racing at our annual Advanced Worker Training School. This year the focus is on Enhanced Worker Development

Our training series continues with a refreshed look and additional content.  This is an opportunity for the novice AND seasoned worker to brush up on old skills and learn the evovling art of volunteering for hot areas in both club and professional race settings.  The agenda will include concurrent topics in the morning with an all hands on skill improvement activity in the afternoon.

Note that this is not a race event.

Both experienced and novice volunteer workers are welcome

Plan to arrive no later than 9:00am. Park in the Paddock and check-in at the base of the tower.  We'll be starting promptly at 9:30 and hope to wrap up about 2:30 pm.

Agenda:

  • Three multiple-concurrent thread sessions are planned.  These include informational and practical sessions covering Marshal resources, Race/Flagging opportunities and travel tips, Website (Alkamel, SCCA, MTM, MSR, WHRRI, IndyCar, IMSA) overview/operation, Organizations overview (Club-SCCA & others, WHRRI, MTM, Pro-IndyCar, IMSA, TransAm, etc.),  NEW technology, Communications (Manual-Flags/hand signals, Verbal-landline/radio and Written-Incidents and write ups), Race Control/Scribe and or Starter.  Actual sessions to be held will depend on attendees interests so sign up NOW and indicate your preferences.
  • Following a break for lunch -
    • Grab a laugh in our infamous Hand-signal relay game and
    • Brush up on FM-radio (wireless) communication skills. Intended to improve skills on this method of communicating utilized at Gingerman, Grattan, Mid-Ohio, Watkins Glen  and many other venues.  Very important in Pro events

And if you haven’t decided, can we bribe you with food, coffee/continental breakfast, boxed lunch, possibly adult beverage(s) after the session and of course all the water you want all day? ;-)

Hope to see you there!
