Port Alberni Vintage Locomotive Tour and Drive
Your cover charge fee of $12 will be donated to the Museum as your entrance fee.

Drive begins 10:30 am sharp!
Come join us for a drive to Port Alberni and Lunch. This drive will include a visit to see a 1929 Baldwin locomotive in progress of being re-built that was for the logging service industry, as well as a stop at the Industrial Heritage Centre, then late lunch and drive around Sproat Lake..
1929 Baldwin Steam Locomotive
“Number 7” is a 1929 Baldwin 2-8-2T Steam Locomotive built at the Baldwin Locomotive Works in Philadelphia, PA, in 1929. Weighing in at 90 tons, this workhorse has a tractive force of 29,100lbs. It burns fuel oil and has a water capacity of 1800 gallons with operative steam pressure at 200psi.
“Number 7” has served on Vancouver Island for over 80 years. When it retired from industrial use in 1972, it was already the longest operating steam locomotive in BC logging history.

- Meeting location: Saturday August 22, 2020 @ 10:00 am Serious Coffee, Parksville. (Mid-Island C&C location) Driver meeting 10:15am Drive begins 10:30 am sharp!
- First stop: 11:30am, the roundhouse address is 3551 Harbor Road access off Dunbar behind Smittys. The roundhouse is behind Smitty’s Restaurant on 3rd Ave. Make a hard right at Smittys and another hard right at the boat yard.
- You may want to wear gloves at the roundhouse, nitrile or other as there is an oil film on the items in the shop.
- Then drive by the old Port Alberni Train Stn. at 3100 Kingsway Ave
- Second stop: 12:30 pm, Industrial Heritage Centre at 3250A 9th Ave, Port Alberni.
- Third stop lunch 1:30pm Boston Pizza 3550 Johnston Rd, Port Alberni,
- Drive out to and around Sproat Lake (@ 1 hour), back to Port Alberni drive ends at Shell Service Stn. 3690 JOHNSTON RD Port Alberni, @ 4:00 - 4:30 pm.
- Registration will close on August 20, 2020 at 23:59 PST
Please make sure you bring your signed waivers including the COVID19 waiver if you are attending your first club event.
PCA does require all waivers to be printed in colour.
Route details and Waivers will be sent to all participants prior to the event.
