Early in December, the banks of the Tennessee River are swarmed with people taking in the lighted display of boats along the river. The annual Parade of Lights takes a unique spin on the traditional Christmas parade, featuring a line of decorated boats that cruise along the Tennessee River. The parade may be viewed from Rhodes Ferry Park.
This free holiday maritime event features many boats of all types and sizes decorated with lights, holiday themes and other festive trimmings for the holiday season. The public is invited for a leisurely stroll around the docks for an up-close look at the brightly lit boats prior to the parade, 4-6 pm at Riverwalk Marina, 3755 U.S. Hwy 31, Decatur, AL 35603.
