About this event
Are you a new Porsche owner and want to understand what your new machine is capable of? Have you owned your Porsche for awhile and have wondered what this thing called “Autocross” is? Do you want to become a better driver by understanding how to control your vehicle in emergency situations? Are you already a dedicated autocrosser but want to improve your skills? This event is for you! The day will start with our Autocross Chalk Talk (classroom session) hosted by Porsche of Annapolis on 08 April 2017. Our Autocross Driving Instructors will cover many of the finer aspects of autocrossing: general car control, weight transfer, oversteer/understeer corrections, precision braking, and a host of other techniques. The afternoon session is where you will be able to apply what you have learned and receive additional ‘live-fire’ mentoring while on the autocross course. $35 dollars for PCA members ($40 dollars if you are not) gets you the classroom session, basic skills driving exercises, and at least three runs through our autocross course. Here is the schedule of the day's events:
0800 - 0830 Check in at Porsche of Annapolis and pound some coffee!
0830 - 1100 Class
1100 - 1130 Tour of Porsche of Annapolis facilities
1130 - 1215 Lunch at Porsche of Annapolis
1215 - 1235 Transit to BWI Cargo Lot
1245 - 1500 Drive basic skills exercises and a full autocross course
For new members or first time autocrossers, upon successful completion of the chalk talk, you will receive a discount code for use on MSR.com that will allow for free registration at one 2017 Chesapeake Region Autocross Event.
Event requirements
Participants must be 18 years of age or older and have a valid driver’s license, but our JPP (Junior Participation Program) allows any 16-18 year old child/grandchild of an active (in good standing) PCA member to participate in autocross events providing they have a valid license (this means their license allows them to drive on the street by themselves). The parent or grandparent has to be present at the autocross, and must complete a "Parental Consent, Release and Waiver of Liability" form. The minor participant must complete a "Minor's Assumption of Risk Acknowledgement" form. All participants must complete a “Waiver and Release of Liability" form. Copies of these forms can be found below, on the Chesapeake Region website, the national PCA website, or from the event organizers on the day of the event

Each driver must wear an "M" or "SA" rated helmet carrying a 2005 or later Snell Memorial Foundation approval sticker. For those purchasing a new helmet, a 2010 "SA" rated helmet is strongly recommended, but an "M" rated helmet is acceptable. Loaner helmets are available for new drivers.
