2016 MCO Autocross Championship - Special Event

Lot 9 - Canadian Tire Centre

About this event

2016 Canadian Tire Carling MCO Autocross Championship - Special Event

Participant Cap: 100

[Course Map]

Ever wondered what autocross would be like under cover of darkness? Headlights blazing and bobbing, brake lights glowing, course illuminated by overhead lighting? We have and now we're going to find out!

In what might be the first event of its kind in Canada, this year's Special Event will start in the afternoon and proceed into the autumn darkness, under Lot 9's lighting. This will prove to be a one of a kind visual spectacle. You don't want to miss being a part of it!

Since this isn't a points event, we're going to have some extra fun! First, we'll score the event based the sum of your best morning time and your best night time. Second, the car with best "light-up" decorations will also receive recognition and maybe a prize. Last, the driver with the best "light-up" decorations will also be recognized. Of course, if you want to be eligible for either of those prizes, you might face one other little challenge that we'll keep private for now.

Please read on to learn about the special requirements for this event.

We are also using this event to raise some additional funds for a new trailer. For this event only, registration brings with it a mandatory $5 gift to the trailer fund, but you can also contribute more if you like.

Event requirements

*********************************************
Special Event Vehicle Requirements

Given we are running in the dark, all vehicles will require fully functional headlights -- both sides in perfect working order. If one headlight goes out, your night will be over; no exceptions.

High Visibility Clothing

Everyone will be required to wear a supplied high visibility vest when doing their marshal duty. Furthermore, everyone is encouraged to wear light-coloured or reflective clothing. Black is not your friend.
**********************************************

Helmets

Everyone needs a helmet and it needs to be appropriately certified. If you don't have one, rentals are available at the event. Cost is $5.00 (HST Included) - please bring cash (exact change appreciated).

Details on appropriate helmets can be found hereSnell 2000 helmets are no longer accepted.

Mandatory Paperwork

All we need is a completed Self-Tech Form. We need one tech form per car per season.

As always, participants are encouraged to have a professional mechanic complete the inspection. Our Title Sponsor, Ralf Koulaib of Canadian Tire's Carling Ave. location can assist with any and all inspection needs. Please call 613-725-3111, choose the menu options to get to Automotive Service and ask for Ralf.

Classing

MCO uses its own classing system. To determine your vehicle's class, please see the following documents on this page2016 MCO Base Car Classes and the 2016 MCO Classing Worksheet

If you know your SCCA class, we ask that you enter it as well when registering.

NOTE: Car numbers are unique and restricted to a specific class. This means that if you have used number 25 in one class, you cannot use it in another class. If you are switching classes, you will need to choose a new number. Please contact autocross@mco.org to get this done BEFORE you register.

Rules

It is every competitor's responsibility to understand the rules applicable to CASC-OR autocross events and the MCO 2016 Supplemental Rules, which can be found here.

Participation by Minors

Any prospective participant under the age of 18 must contact autocross@mco.org in advance of registering. Ideally, this contact should precede registration cut-offs by two weeks.

Insurance

Your road car insurance does not cover you during this motorsport event.
