Join the Heart of Dixie Chapter of the BMW Car Club for a Valentine’s Fun Run on Saturday, February 18.  We will be taking a scenic drive through the countryside and Elk River between Athens and Florence.  We will be stopping on main street Florence for lunch at noon with options for Rosie’s Mexican Cantina or Trowbridges Sandwich and Ice Cream Bar.  Afterwards, we will be heading over to Frank Lloyd Wright’s Rosenbaum House for a private tour of his only Usonian house in Alabama. 

Those that would like to stay the night will then continue on to the Shoals Marriott Hotel and Spa for an evening of luxury in a with a balcony room overlooking the Tennessee River and Wilson Dam.  After spending the late afternoon in the indoor pool, hot tub or enjoying the spa, we have a group reservation at Dale’s Restaurant and Steakhouse for those that would like to participate.

An American architectural treasure, this house was built for newlyweds Stanley and Mildred Rosenbaum of Florence, Alabama, in 1939. The house is the only structure designed by Frank Lloyd Wright in the state of Alabama, and the only such house in the southeast that is open to the public. Wright’s Usonian style (named for the United State of America) was offered as a low-cost home for middle income families. With Wright’s plans, a young family could build their own home, fulfilling the American dream of home ownership. This house sits on a two-acre lot, very near downtown Florence and facing the Tennessee River.
