About this event
Ladies Day 2008
The Mad Hatter’s Tea Party
Join the women of RMR for a great day of cars, hats and high tea at the Colorado State Patrol training track in Golden on Sunday, June 15.
This is a wonderful opportunity to discover the fun of performance driving if you’ve never tried it before. And for experienced drivers, the CSP track is something different!
Classroom and on-the-track, in-your-car instruction will be provided, and drivers will be organized in run groups according to experience, so there is truly something for everyone at Ladies Day.
All women drivers over 18 can participate. All marques are welcome, although we cannot allow trucks or non-Porsche SUV’s. Convertibles and open cars must have factory-installed rollover protection or pass the “broomstick test” (the driver’s helmeted head is below a bar placed on the rollbar and windshield). All cars, except trailered vehicles, must pass a technical inspection before the event. Every driver must wear a helmet rated Snell 2000 or 2005. We’ll have a limited number of loaner helmets on hand.
First-time drivers may want to consult the RMR Web site (www.rmrporscheclub.com) tab “Drivers Ed” for the article, “Your First Drivers Ed.”
No-cost, pre-event technical inspections will be held on Wednesday, May 28 from 5:30-7:00. Denver location is TBA. In Fort Collins, the pre-tech will be at Poudre Sports Car Enterprises at 5806 S. College Ave. We will be able to provide only a limited number of pre-techs at the track, so please arrange to have your car inspected prior to the 15th. Tech forms are available on the web site or email one of the event chairs.
The gate will open at 7:00 AM, and the MANDATORY drivers’ meeting is at 8:00. We’ll take a break for high tea at lunchtime, and then drive until about 4:00. After the event, we’ll gather at a nearby spot for beer:30.
Directions to the track: Take S. Golden Road (easily reached from Rte. 6 or I-70) to Quaker Street. Turn right on Quaker Street and continue through the gate; the road is unpaved past this point. You will pass through another gate, which will be attended, and proceed to the paddock by driving on the track itself. (Clearly, when the track is “hot”, there is no access to the paddock!)
Registration: $75, co-drivers $50
