The Rome Ramble

Rome, Georgia

About this event

Spring has sprung, the pollen has fall and it's time to ramble up to Rome.

We'll start in Adairsville, Georgia, and then make a winding 100 mile drive through Northwest Georgia where we'll tell lies, collect awards and enjoy a burger or three. Along the way, you'll have about a dozen questions to answer and several checkpoints where you'll have to hit a perfect arrival time. You can run the route at the assigned speeds (always at or below the posted speed limits) or break out a calculator and do the math, your choice.

Scoring:

  • Each incorrect answer: 15 points
  • Each hundredth of a minute early or late at a checkpoint: 1 point
  • Maximum score at a checkpoint or a missed checkpoint: 50 points

Rallying is a precision sport and lowest score wins. A RoadRally is not a race: competitors will never need to exceed the posted speed limit. This event falls under the Sports Car Club of America's GTA (Games, Tour, Adventure) format. Everything you need to know will be explained in the General Instructions and during a brief rally school before the event starts.

We will start at the Adairsville, Georgia, Burger King. Registration fee is $25 for SCCA members and $30 for non-members. A limited number of walk-up registrations will be available. Resgistered teams can check in between 10 and 11 a.m., competitor's meeting at 11:15 and first car off at 12 noon. The finish will be at Sam's Burger Deli in Rome.

For questions or information on how to register, contact Rallymaster Mark Johnson at rallygeorgia@gmail.com or visit the Atlanta Region’s web site at AtlantaSCCA.org.

Event requirements

Each vehicle must have two occupants, a driver and a navigator. Additional adult occupants may put you in a fun-run class. Minors are allowed with a minor waiver signed by all legal guardians. (Please contact the rallymaster for more information on this at rallygeorgia@gmail.com.)

Electronic or mechanical adjustable odometers are not allowed on this event. The use of a GPS or mapping program is also prohibited. Play fair.

A clipboard, pens, pencils, highlighter, calculator and a watch or smartphone app you can easily adjust the time on are strongly recommended - official time will be available at the start and it may be different from what time you think it is.
