May 2021 Willow Drivers Meeting notes

Come join us for an exciting weekend at Willow Springs International Raceway for DigitalFilm Tree's “Tribute to Le Mans" weekend. Featuring our usual Cup Racing (CR), Time Trial (TT), and our Performance Driving Series (PDS) groups with a lots of track time per day. In addition, Saturday will include our annual Enduro for Unlimited and Relay class Cup racing.

Friday May 14th,  WSIR will run an Open Test day.  The track will be open from 8:00 AM to 10:00 PM for practice. This is your opportunity for night practice for the Tribute event on Saturday. The gates will stay open until 10 PM for trailer parking.

Note that we will not automatically assign instructors to new PDS drivers during this event due to social distancing requirements. If you would like to request an instructor for the event, please contact Steve Town at PDS@porscheclub.com.

Registration will be available Saturday and Sunday morning at John Momeyer's trailer in the West Paddock starting at 7:00 AM. We will use SpeedWaiver to confirm registration and handle signature of required waivers. The SpeedWaiver link and QR code are below.

May 15: Gates open at 6:00 AM.  There will be a mandatory, in-person, drivers meeting outside the paddock diner. The usual content of the drivers meeting is also provided in Drivers Meeting Notes which are linked on this page and emailed to all participants. The track goes hot at 8:00 AM.

Tribute Enduro pit set up and gridding will be available at 3:20 after the TT drivers leave the pits for their session.  The green flag for The Tribute To LeMans enduro drops at 6:00 PM. Tribute Enduro Race Rules are available on the POC website.  Please note: every Tribute team must provide a volunteer to assist at the event. There is a mandatory Tribute Drivers Meeting at 12:20 outside the paddock diner.

The cost for 2-day registration is $495 for Cup Racing and $435 for Time Attack and PDS. One-day TT and PDS are $230 for Saturday and $230 for Sunday. Our special EARLY BIRD PRICING ($50 discount to these prices for two-day registrations) for this event expires Sunday April 30th at midnight.

Friday testing: Willow Springs Raceway offers Friday open testing. The cost is NOT included in your POC registration. Contact the track office for details at (661) 256-6666 or info@willowspringsraceway.com.

On Saturday, Red Cup Racers will have 2 practices, qualifying (split), and 1 cup race. Orange Cup Racers will have practice, qualifying (split), and 2 cup races. On Sunday, race groups will have 1 practice session, 1 qualifying session (split), and 1 cup race. Time Trial and PDS groups will have four sessions on both Saturday and Sunday.

Vehicle tech inspection should be performed at an official POC Tech Inspection Station. Please complete tech inspection prior to the event in order to assist with with social distancing requirements. If you cannot complete Tech Inspection prior to the event, Tech Inspection will be available at the track.

Tire service: Tire mounting and balancing will be available from Vali Motorsports and the Willow Springs Tire Shop.

Fuel:  Leaded and unleaded race fuel will be available at the track both days.  Purchases can only be made by using a credit card.

Directions:  I-5 North to Highway 14 North; go north past Palmdale and Lancaster to Rosamond, CA.  Take the Rosamond Boulevard exit and go west (left) approximately 6 miles on Rosamond Boulevard to the main track entrance.

Camping:  Motor home camping will be permitted on Friday and Saturday nights. Be prepared to dry camp.  Quiet time will be enforced from midnight to 6:00 AM.

WSIR charges a $15.00 entrance fee (per person) at the gate.  This one-time fee is good for the entire weekend.

Note that when you register you will be asked if you would like to receive text messages from POC.  If you say "Yes", we will be able to send you text messages at the track when we have schedule changes or other items of general interest. We will not use the text capability to spam you away from the track.In the interest of social distancing, please accept text messages as this is our best method of contacting you at the track.
