Aspen Snowmass Street Race

About this event

Rocky Mountain Vintage Racing
Is Proud to Present The 2019

Aspen Snowmass Vintage Grand Prix

RMVR is holding a street race for the third year in The Town of Snowmass Village on September 14th & 15th.

The event is held in conjunction with the Motoring Classic and Car Club Week put on by the town of Snowmass.

We had an incredible time last year! See amazing pictures and videos taken at the 2018 Event.  The 2019 event will be even better:

  • This year the races will be on Saturday & Sunday, rather than Sunday & Monday as last year.
  • This year there will again be tents for all racer paddock spaces.
  • Better pedestrian bridges into the paddocks.
  • There will be a Saturday night dinner for participants and volunteers. (Two tickets are included, extra tickets can be purchased when you enter.)
  • There is also a car show that race participants are encouraged to attend on Friday September 13th.

Remember, we get to use the streets of The Town of Snowmass Village, because we fill the town's beds! Please see hotel info below and book your accommodations!

Entry Fee for this event is $500.  Registration closes midnight  9/11/2019. Since the number of entrants is limited, acceptance is on a first come, first served basis.

Volunteers (Marshals or Crowd Control) --  Please Sign Up ONLINE HERE to help us with this event:

We have secured various properties in the Town of Snowmass Village that will give us a discount. Book right away before the discounts disappear.  The main reason we are being allowed to use this venue is to generate room revenue in the Town of Snowmass Village. Please show your support to the town and book a room! Thank YOU!   (Motorhomes are not allowed in the Town of Snowmass Village, but there are a couple of parks down valley.)

Event requirements

Entering Cars WITHOUT an RMVR or VMC Club Log Book:   If the car you are registering does not have a Log Book from RMVR or another VMC organization, or has not been invited by the Event Chair to participate in this event, your entry will be automatically reviewed to ascertain if the car meets RMVR's criteria to run as an "Exhibition" car for this one event.  We require it be of special interest to vintage racing, conform to RMVR years of eligibility, and, of course, have proper safety preparations.  If it does not meet the criteria, the entry can be denied.  If so, you will be promptly contacted and the entry fee charged upon registration will be fully refunded.

RMVR requires fuel cells for all Production and Formula race cars racing wheel-to-wheel in our regular run groups.

Cancellation Policy:

  • Full refund if canceled prior to Aug. 16th.
  • $125 Cancellation Fee Aug. 17th to Aug. 26th.
  • $250 Cancellation Fee Aug. 27th to Sept. 5th.
  • No Refund for cancellations after Sept. 6th.

If you don't race with us regularly, are new to RMVR, or are a guest from another racing organization, please bring racing CREDENTIALS (racing license and a picture ID) with you to registration. Thanks.

SPECIAL RULES FOR THIS RACE:

Snowmass is a unique event on the RMVR race schedule.  Being the only street race, there are many more safety considerations for drivers, workers, and spectators.  For the Snowmass race only, the regular Spin/4-off Policy is suspended.  Instead, the following rules will be enforced at Snowmass:

  1. Any spin and you come in.”  “One and Done”—one spin or 4-off results in suspension for the remainder of the day.  Continuation on the following day is subject to Steward’s approval.
  2. Any contact” with another car or barrier results in suspension for the remainder of the event and possibly future events pending investigation and determination of fault.
  3. Over-aggressive” driving may result in a black flag to come in to the hot pit and talk with the Steward.  Continuation is subject to the Steward’s approval.
  4. Lack of situational awareness” judged to put other drivers or yourself at risk may result in a black flag and possible elimination from rest of session or event.

The goal for this year’s race is to have NO contact incidents.  It is the vision of the Leadership Team that the Snowmass Race showcase the “Vintage Racing Spirit” where drivers compete to earn the respect of fellow drivers by safe driving and good sportsmanship with special cars.  More than any other RMVR event , Snowmass is a “spectator event” at a challenging venue where safety is our absolute top priority.  Drivers are approved for entry based on their safety record and prior involvement with RMVR.
