Zoom & Vroom Track Day

Event Requirements

Registration closed November 8, 2013 4:59 AM at 2013-11-08T01:59:00-0800 Registration ends November 8, 2013 4:59 AM at 2013-11-08T01:59:00-0800 Registration opens September 1, 2013 4:00 PM at 2013-09-01T13:00:00-0700 Registration runs from September 1, 2013 4:00 PM to November 8, 2013 4:59 AM

This event is now at capacity. If you are interested in participating, please continue with your registration... you will be able to choose your entry option, but your entry will be placed on a wait list. You will be notified if room becomes available. If you are moved from the wait list to confirmed, you will be required to pay on site, in cash or check (made payable to Virginia International Raceway).

To participate in the track day event, your car must have a safety inspection performed prior to arrival. You will receive a link to the inspection form via email after you've completed registration.

Track Day participants will be required to provide a suitable helmet. All helmets must be Snell rated. For beginners and convertible group drivers (in cars without roll bars), we will accept SA and M helmets no older than 2000 specification in good condition. For all other run groups, an SA-rated helmet Snell 2000 or newer is required. Open face or closed face helmets are allowed. If you cannot procure a helmet for this event, we may be able to provide one for you... requests must be made at least 30 days in advance of the event (which means you need to sign up for the event at least 30 days in advance... which not-coincidentally, is the cut-off date for cancelations.)

Instructors... I've engineered the schedule to include a full 5 minutes break between EVERY track session, so even if you have two students, it should be relatively easy getting to/from each assignment.

We've moved this event from NCCAR to Virginia Int'l Raceway's Patriot Course. While it's shorter, it offer an experience like no other. Turns of all varieties PLUS elevation changes that make lesser drivers weep, you will think this track is longer than it really is. A major benefit to its length is that you get more laps as well! You will still be required to sign a liability release waiver protecting yourself, your fellow participants, and the track and event staff against lawsuit in the event of any unforeseen calamities. This form is found in digital form here during online registration as well as paper form upon arrival at the event.

You'll have the following options to choose from for your event entry:

Touring Lights Group - $150 - Four track sessions
Limited to 15 cars, this group is for convertible cars without aftermarket roll-over protection, classic or antique vehicles, and 'Double Your Fun' 2nd car entries (see bottom of registration form). Even if your car has factor roll-over protection, this is still your only option. This group will run under strict passing rules, and will be a speed-limited group. This group will give you a real track experience, but will be designed to help mitigate many of the unforeseen issues that might arrise when pushing a car to its upper limits. You will have an in-car instructor and classroom instruction designed to introduce you to the amazing world of road course driving. Passing will be limited to the main straight. Convertibles will need to sign VIR's convertible vehicle waiver.

Novice Group - $250 - Five track sessions
Limited to 15 cars, this group is for drivers with 0-4 track events (0-8 "days"). Cars must meet all safety requirements (including competition style roll bars for convertibles).  You will have an in-car instructor and classroom instruction providing you the info and knowledge to be safe while on track with other cars, and to introduce you to the rules, protocols, and best practices for road course high performance driving. Passing will be limited to straight sections of the track.

Intermediate/Advanced Instructed & New Solo - $250 - Five track sessions
Limited to 15 cars, this group is for drivers who have progressed through various DE programs (5+ events) and have a solid understanding of on-track passing rules and crisis management. Your in-car and classroom instruction will be designed to expand your high performance driving envelope, tailored to your experience and vehicle. Newly approved solo qualified drivers should choose this group. Passing will be on any straight section of track.

Instructors - $0 Experienced Solo - $250 - Five track sessions
This group is limited only by the experience level required. Instructors and solo qualified drivers will share this run group, so all drivers in this group must be comfortable (and courteous) in traffic. Passing will be "open - with a point". Experienced solo drivers will have the option to be a convertible group mentor for a discounted rate.

Instructors please note: If you are not already an approved instructor for Asphalt Ventures, you will only see the 'Guest Instructor' option on the registration form. If you feel this is in error, go ahead and use the guest registration option and we'll sort it out afterwards.  Thank you!!

NEW REGISTRTATIONS (As of October 19th)... to complete registration, your payment info will be required, however you will not actually be charged until October 30th.

Cancellations will be accepted through October 9th. There will be a $50 cancellation fee deducted from your refund (no cancellation fee if you accept a future credit). There will be no refunds after October 8th, only future credits. No refunds for no-shows.
