Vehicles:

Your learning will be maximized by participating at the school in a vehicle equipped with the least technology (manual transmission, no ABS, no traction control, no electronic stabilization).  Street cars must be roadworthy.  Racecars are allowed but must have a properly mounted passenger seat for the instructor.  Students intending to apply for a race licence immediately after successful completion of the school MUST use a vehicle equipped with a manual transmission.  If you do not have a manual transmission but are otherwise successful at the school, you will only be eligible to apply for your novice licence if you are able to demonstrate, under observation at a test day, that you can successfully apply the skills learned at the school to a racing environment.  Convertibles must meet the CASC Time Attack rollover protection regulations.  (Contact us if you have any questions about running a convertible).

Safety Equipment:

A proper passenger seat and working DOT approved seat belt OR securely mounted race seat with racing harness, all in good condition, are required for both the driver and passenger(s).  Instructors will be in the vehicles with the students.  Helmets must meet one of the following certification standards:   Snell M2005, M2010, K2005, K2010, SA2005, SA2010, SAH2010 or SA2015.

A small number of helmets are available for rent through St. LAC.  Ask ahead to reserve one if you do not have a helmet.  Note that CASC-OR only accepts helmets as specified in Appendix K, Article 5.1 of the Race Regulations at race events.

Shirts with long sleeves and pants must be worn.  Sneakers (or other footwear with flat soles that lace on) are required.  No other safety apparel is required for the Novice Licence Program or the Novice Racing Experience.  Candidates for the Advanced racer Program must have the full compliment of personal safety equipment as required by CASC-OR Regulations.

Full information on the requirements for participating in the school are in the school information package available on the CASC-OR website.
