The 5th ANNUAL JACK LUCK TRIBUTE SLALOM:
BACKGROUND:
The St. Lawrence Auto Club is pleased to present the first round of the 2014 Ontario Regional Auto Slalom Championship at the Picton Air Field on Saturday the 31st of May and is so named in honour of one of the icons of the club.
As an Industrial Designer and artist, Jack Luck was employed by ALCAN at Kingston for many years. His contribution to the field of industrial design is memorialized with a plaque at the Pearson Airport in Toronto.
He used his artistic talents for the very clever concept of transforming the club acronym letters (St. LAC) into a sports car outline for our club badge as well as later using the same idea for the CASC logo.
On behalf of St. LAC, he hosted the historical meeting in Kingston in June1951 with representatives from Toronto, Ottawa, and Montreal which led to the formation of CASC as the National Body for organized motor sport in Canada until superseded by ASN Canada FIA in 1991. An early President of St LAC, he became the first President of CASC from 1951 to 1954.
Club members will be setting up the course on Friday night and the club will have Security overnight on both Friday and Saturday so competition cars and rigs can be left at the airfield. Unfortunately, camping on site is not allowed by local by-laws.
Portable toilets (with water) will be on site.
As per last year, Registration will be in the Flying Club building located at the westerly end of the Air Field. Entry Fee payments will be collected by St. LAC at the same time. After Registration and Payment, you can drive through the nearby gate to the Paddock area which will be in front of the hangers. Start and Finish will be at the westerly end of the converging active air strips. Line-up Grid will be along the road to the Start area.
Event Schedule:
St. LAC Organizer for the event will be Rob Brunner
The philosophy of St. LAC is for you to have an enjoyable time on a good flowing course that allows both fast and challenging sections. However, we do have some supplementary regulations that are unique to us and they can be viewed at Supplementary Regulations on our web site’s section on the Regionals.
